Re: 2017 Win Total
Really hoping for a turnaround this year. Personally I voted for 6 and I think that's a reasonable expectation. We haven't been winning the 50/50 games and I'm hoping this is the year we start winning those. My expectation is 6 (this is a high expectation), but I do feel 8-10 even could be possible. Hoping that with the new DC things on that side will improve. With AB coming back the offense should be just as good.
I know most folks will disagree with me here, but if there were ever a time for a turnaround (or beginning for that matter) it's now. I really think this could be the year; for some context (I know I'm new to the board) I haven't said that before.

Re: 2017 Win Total
I'm not voting yet. I want to see how the DC situation comes out. Right now, I have to be honest, I'm not seeing more then 2-3 games I really feel confident about winning. I'm hoping we can find ways to compete better next year, but until I see it, I'm not sure I'll really believe it. We have an easier schedule than last year, but it's not a cakewalk.

If you set this up thanks. It should prove to be an interesting topic.mdogt12 wrote:How many wins in 2017

I going with 5-1 start and then taking 2 of the remaining 3 home games vs Ga So, App st. and Maine. Somewhere between 2018 and 2020 Umass will enter the top 25 during the course of the season.

Re: 2017 Win Total
I don't think we will beat App St. When they moved up from 1AA to 1A their program was in much better shape than we were when we moved up. They did win the bowl game they played in this season. I can still remember that when we played them for the 1AA championship that I went to they had a kicker that always kicked the kickoffs into the end zone. A terrific defensive weapon. When was the last time we had a kicker that could place a kickoff into the end zone on a regular basis? Sure could use one.stevemaz wrote:I going with 5-1 start and then taking 2 of the remaining 3 home games vs Ga So, App st. and Maine. Oops! Oh well. Hopefully you have the last 3 home games predicted right. You are an eternal optimist.

I'm the only one that picked 3... Still feels like the right number.

Re: 2017 Win Total
I think I must have wound up going with four, even though I was very skeptical we'd actually get there. Three is looking about right at this point, thought it didn't play out the way I expected.

It was only at 1 yesterday.... Looks like we have a few sneaky Pete's trying to get their picks in late *eyeball emoji*
Re: 2017 Win Total
Going for win #4 today vs BYU. The reality is that UMass blew a huge opportunity this year and could/should easily be at least 6-4 right now heading ti a bowl game. Heck, if things broke perfectly, the record could actually be 10-0 right now.
Re: 2017 Win Total
So far the record of teams Umass has played....42-57 with a 1-9 squad...only win was against Umass and then ya got a win against an 0-9 squad. Remaining two games...9-11 record. So look likes 51-68 is the schedule they played and Umass is 3-7 against such stellar competition. You are what your record says you are...not a good team or program. Who cares what final record is. Bad team playing a a weak schedule AND still can't win.
