Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)
Re: 2018 Recruiting
Not a bad start to the class at all grabbing a 3* prospect out of a state with legitimate talent. Hopefully this kid can come in and take over the reigns of this offense early in his career.
Re: 2018 Recruiting
Where would he slot in the depth chart next year - based on grad year only?
Re: 2018 Recruiting
Redshirt his freshman year. Not on depth chart.eldonabe wrote:Where would he slot in the depth chart next year - based on grad year only?
No reason for him not to. We have a lot of depth at QB currently.

Not lacking in confidence: http://www.fridaynightohio.com/news/jac ... -potential
"They play a brutal schedule," Pallotta said. "So, if you win seven or eight games, you're going to be in a high bowl game."

"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

From the above article. Note, he has no recognition that I could find under basketball. He was named all-conference, all-district and all-county and earned honorable mention All-Ohio. He was also a starter on Jackson's Division I state championship basketball team.
Re: 2018 Recruiting
Just an observation but it seems like UMASS is recruiting players that are also being recruited by the Ivy League and service academies. Are we pushing the academic angle for these recruits? Does anyone know if this was a conscious decision by the staff? All for it. UMASS- the Stanford of the East.

Re: 2018 Recruiting
Wow, what a highlight video, this kid can flat out pass the basketball...great vision, great anticipation, great execution.....#41 must have had 40 dunks off his great looks....if this kid throws a football half as good as he passes a basketball then we're in for a treat.
Re: 2018 Recruiting
From what I saw on his football highlight tape, he has a very unorthodox throwing motion and release. Almost looks like he short arms his throws and then his head goes down toward the ground. Might be why he had 10 interceptions last year. Definitely something that Whip will work on during his redshirt year and RS freshman year as a backup.Carl Spackler wrote:Wow, what a highlight video, this kid can flat out pass the basketball...great vision, great anticipation, great execution.....#41 must have had 40 dunks off his great looks....if this kid throws a football half as good as he passes a basketball then we're in for a treat.
He's got time considering we most likely wouldn't see him playing in a game for us until the 2020 season at the earliest.

Re: 2018 Recruiting
My friend's grandson Connor Becker took a UMass visit. QB out of Pennsylvania. Princeton looking at him too.

Got a 3star DT commitment from Texas, Dennis Osagiede http://247sports.com/Player/Dennis-Osagiede-91751

New commit also looks like he gets it done in the classroom. Offers included Army, Cornell and Yale.

Seems like a bunch of of the players UMASS is recruiting have Ivy league offers as well. Perhaps we can become the Stanford of the east coast. Though I am confused at the offer from Yake? Where is that?
