Pat Kelsey
Re: YOUR NEW MENS HOOP COACH: PAT KELSEY
I like that he is young, yet mature in his demeanor and coaching. Hope he's here for at least 5 years with great success.
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.
Re: YOUR NEW MENS HOOP COACH: PAT KELSEY
^ if he can convince the young players to stay then I doubt he'll last five because he will turn the program around quicker than that.

No need to pissed on the parade fellas. Maybe the guy will love it here and build a dominant program

^^ I'm guessing that most, if not all, will be advised to stay by their hometown mentors.
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

If he does have the success that we all hope he does, the AD can up the salary to maybe make him stay. It would be a great problem to have!

Been gone all afternoon and just got on to check for any news and this is about as great as it could be. Looking for a quick turn around in the program.

Relax no one is "pissing on the parade". Everyone is in agreement that this is a great hire. No one is upset. Stop with the straw man.Floyd wrote:No need to pissed on the parade fellas. Maybe the guy will love it here and build a dominant program

I'm fine. Guy just got hired and you're talking about him leaving in 3 years. Maybe you should relax

Yeah thought so, assuming he's also related to the Kennedy's then too.MJatUM wrote:Biggest booster? The Champions Center is named after him, so yeah, I think you could say he's our biggest booster lol.inthescoop wrote:Can someone tell me on here or maybe via PM if that's better, how important John Kennedy is to UMass basketball? I've seen his name thrown around here. Is he related to "the" Kennedy family, is he our biggest booster?

People talking about Kelsey leaving already? Shit I'm just worried about us making the NCAA tournament with the talent we have.

Just enjoy it, great great hire and no one knows the future there are many scenarios where he stays. I'm gonna challenge him to become the greatest coach in UMass history.Floyd wrote:I'm fine. Guy just got hired and you're talking about him leaving in 3 years. Maybe you should relax

Coach Kelsey can't wait to meet Dr. J! Maybe he'll get behind the statue movement!

Hire Matt McCall!
Re: YOUR NEW MENS HOOP COACH: PAT KELSEY
Agreed, I love this hire, but we're getting way ahead of ourselves. First, even though Kelsey seems as good as (or better than) we could've hoped for, success isn't guaranteed. Also, all but a handful of NCAA programs are stepping stones (heck, hasn't Kansas lost coaches to UNC?), so if we have that kind of success again, then we'll be in a good position either way. Plus don't forget, there are programs out there with arguably less name recognition (at least historically) that have kept successful coaches happy where they are for a long period of time. Either way, first thing's first...the program needs to get back on track and then we can worry about these sorts of issues later.UMassHoops wrote: Just enjoy it, great great hire and no one knows the future there are many scenarios where he stays.
