This. There was a suicide ffs.
From what I can remember they got some players from some "non accredited ? " JC school that was no more than a vocational school. Several people got fired , the coach and AD I think but nor really sure.

Something's gotta give...
A-10 rankings
Scoring Offense: Bona #1 at 84.8ppg
FG % Defense: UM #1 at .384
3pt %: Bona #1 at .391
3pt % Defense: UM #1 at .299
Blocks: Bona #2, UM #3

This is a concern:
Bona is tied for 2nd in the conference in FG%, and they're #2 in offensive rebounds.

Could bode well for us, since we love the 3:
Bona is allowing .393 from 3, next to last in the A-14.
But on the flip side: even with the volume we shoot (tied for most in the league, with Fordham), we're the worst 3 shooting team at .304

Bona features two 20+ scorers:
Jaylen Adams (6-2, 185, Jr, G) at 23.0 ppg (tied for league best with DAV's Jack Gibbs). Besides the scoring, he's also the league's best assist man, at 6.6 apg.
Matt Mobley (6-3, 185, Jr, G) at 20.3 ppg, 5th in the league. He also snares 6.8 rpg (7th best in A-14). He's a Worcester guy, played his first 2 college years at Central CT.
Put 'em together and that's more than half of Bona's total scoring. They also combine for an average of 37.8 minutes per game.
Denzel Gregg (6-7, 225, Sr, F) is their #3 scorer (12.9 ppg) and leading rebounder (7.4 rpg). The 7.4 is also good for 4th best in the league. He also swats 2 shots per game, 2nd best in the league.

^ Zach Lewis transferred to UMass right around the same time that Matt Mobley transferred to SBU. I wonder if things would be different if that was reversed... Mobley is shooting 41.7% from 3 this year.

I have NEVER been part of the "Fire Kellogg pose" members. I just don't have the confidence in his coaching like a lot of you guys.
Thanks for clarifying

Since this has morphed into a DK coaching discussion, I'll repeat a post I made in the season thread:

I think that what has improved DK's coaching the most (besides the obvious talent upgrade) is the depth. If one or two or even three guys aren't having good days he can bring people off the bench who can actually help. And I give him credit for not being afraid to sit Pip or Deeky for stretches when they were off their games. Same goes for Rashaan.

He hasn't had that luxury much in the past.

I'll take the better defensive team at home. We have a chance to get them out of their flow while exploiting their defense and limited depth. At least I hope

Vegas has UMass as -1.5 at home v the Bonnies tomorrow.

BIG opportunity here. Honestly I think we match up well with this team. I'm looking forward to it.

I like our depth...but they will have the best player on the floor, probably best in the conference. That's always scary.

Yeah offensively Adams is right up there with the Davidson kid I think -- he's taking about 14 1/2 shots to score 23 a game. He's gotten better every year and doesn't really take bad shots from what I've seen. Hoping we can keep a hand in his face out deep and then offer some help off someone in the frontcourt if he is able to penetrate. Interested to see this Mobley kid. His #'s are pretty damn good.

I like this match-up for UMass too. For as good as Adams and Mobley are I'm happy that they're small guards. UMass' biggest match-up problem has been trying to guard big and strong wings that attack the basket (i.e. Efianayi from UCF and Towns from Harvard) or mobile big men that can stretch the defense (i.e. Saiz from Ole Miss, Enechionyia from Temple, Holt & Bullock from Prov).

I don't expect UMass to shut Adams and Mobley down, but if they can at least slow them down I think it will be enough to get the win.

The one good thing that DK has going for him this year is enough depth so that if someone is not doing well he has options to replace that player at least for a short time and have him or an assistant talk to him. I can't remember when any of our coaches have been able to go 11 deep in any game. I really enjoy the way he has been using Holloway lately. Being able to dominate inside is great and his FT shooting has improved at least the last few games.

Just checked the weather for W MA and even Olean and they are predicting 5 - 8 " of snow. Hope they took that into their travel plans.

The St. Bonaventure team arrived in Amherst last night and practiced at the Mullins Center today.

fenway - With the floor down for the Bonnies, did we get to shoot there, or are they one up on us?
