Game 15, 2016-17: at George Mason (1/4)
Game 15, 2016-17: at George Mason (1/4)
I'm starting to organize the DC area alumni for a pre-game event for the George Mason game. Please send me a private message if 1)you are going and 2) would like to help out. I am trying to gauge interest so I'll know how many tickets to purchase. Hope to see lots of alumni there! GO UMASS!

Will you be doing an event for the GW game as well? Thinking about coming down for it.

Yes. We have that planned as well but that game is also is on a weeknight (Thursday). I'll be sending out a blast on that game once it gets a bit closer. Watch the Alumni Association website to sign up.

As a future resident of DC starting 1/7, I'd love to be involved down there. Excited to be so close to so many road schools.

Welcome to DC chdavis295. We have a great group of alumni down here and will have a pre-game event for the GW game. Hope to see you there.
Also the DC alumni have a Facebook and Linkedin that you may want to join. Here are the links.

Unfortunately the Alumni Association has chosen not to support the efforts to organize a pre-game event as in the past so it will work a little differently this year. Fortunately the Athletic Department has stepped up to support the DC alumni and tickets can be purchased through the UMASS ticket office.
Below is the link to get tickets for the game. We will meet at Brion's Grille before the game 5-7pm. Brion's is across the street from the Eagle Bank Arena and I urge all alumni to meet there, grab a beer and get pumped up to beat George Mason.

The game is listed as "WATCH" on the GMU site and the link is for A10 network, like ours, but no mention if it is free or not.

I'm now putting this in the "must win" column. It doesn't get any easier with the next three.
This is another small team and they are young. Their starters are:
Moore (6'2) Senior 17.5 points, 10.7 rebounds This is not a typo.
Livingston (5'11) Soph 14.9 points
Jenkins (6'7, 246) Senior 10.6 points, 5.8 rebounds
Grayer (6'4) Soph 9.5 points
Keir (6'4) Freshman 6.6 points, 5.4 rebounds
Top guys off the bench are:
Boyd (6'2) Freshman 5.5 points
Newman (6'4) Freshman 4.4 points
They only turn the ball over 12.6 times a game, but VCU caused 17 turnovers while committing only 16 fouls. That's impressive, but that's VCU. GMU has outrebounded their opponents 41.6 to 32.6 with a small team, but VCU outrebounded them by 11. Makes you wonder if their OOC was soft.
On paper I have a better feeling about this game than I did before, but I need to see us play better before I have confidence in an A10 road win.

It was listed on the UMass site before the season started as a FREE game but is not listed as VIDEO available on the Athletic Site today so we will have to see. Might have to bite the bullet and pay to watch this one.minutefanjsf wrote:SoCal wrote:The game is listed as "WATCH" on the GMU site and the link is for A10 network, like ours, but no mention if it is free or not.

Guys - It is a "premium" event. Nothing has changed. You will have to pay unless someone finds us a pirate.

I don't understand why our athletic site doesn't tell us - in situations like this - that our away opponent is offering video, pay or free.

Guess I will just pay to watch it. Can't trust any of those pirate sites to be virus free.
