Mullins Center

Post by UMass02 » Thu May 15, 2014 3:36 pm

This summer, the Mullins Center is going under a minor renovation. The Mullins Center will have new lighting, reupholstered seats, and cup holders for most of the seats.

The next event on the schedule is for Sept. 19th.

So no revival meetings this summer. Dang.

The Bill always looks so dark on TV. Looking forward to seeing how that changes with the new lighting.

I'm glad the upholstery will be done on the cushy seated side. There were way too many chairs on that side with torn cloth.

There are many other renovations worth doing down the road, but this is an excellent start!

With the lighting project finished, the next planned rehab project at Mullins involves the concourse bathrooms. I only mention this because bathrooms are a touchy subject for some of the McGuirk faithful.

There's a difference between doing rehab to ones already build and ones being built from scratch...

With that said, there is no reason they shouldn't have added public bathrooms to the new football facility for game day use. HUGE oversight.

Maybe they're doubling the amount of urinals in preparation for serving beer in the near future!

Apologies if this was already posted, but the bid drawings have been added for the new center hung video board for the Mullins Center. Also getting new video boards and advertising at the ends of the arena.

Looks like Garber is also getting a video board.

Mullins is getting some roof work as well, I assume it is linked to the new video board needing some structural work. https://www.umass.edu/procurement/Const ... awings.pdf

^

The roof work is what is going to make the new center hung scoreboard possible. Bamford mentioned that in a tweet not long ago.

Weird that Garber would be getting a new permanent video board before McGuirk.

Makes you wonder if a new video board is coming with new construction plans for McGuirk???

It has to be right? There's no way Garber would get precedent over McGuirk unless maybe a donation was made specifically for a Garber video board.
