Re: Game 2: Boston College
Let me pose a question. I have been trying to come to grips with what I feel will be a successful outcome on Saturday. Obviously, a win of any kind qualifies. What kind of loss would be OK?
For me, the only acceptable loss is where we are close at the end but can't seal the deal. But it can't be because of a bonehead play. It has to be an incomplete pass or some normal play where BC just stops us. If we give up a lead at the end and only lose by a few points I will not be happy.

Any loss will be heartbreaking. It will take a while to figure out if it is acceptable. According to the “experts", we are not supposed to win. I think increased offensive production and no turnovers and losing by 10 or less would sting less after about ten weeks of wrestling with it, but probably never “acceptable”.69MG wrote:Let me pose a question. Just WIN baby! There are no consolation prizes in the Battle For Respectability in Massachusetts. I remember 1978 like it was yesterday. 33-0, but any win Saturday will be infinitely better than that. Just WIN UMass. I will be there with 40 friends from western MA. Go UMass! Kickass UMass!!

I was there in 2007 when we almost beat Matty Ryan. No moral victory there. Also there in 2011 when we got blown out. There for first FBS game too. We need to win this game.
Re: Game 2: Boston College
This might be a stupid question, but if you have club seats, can you move between the club section and the lower sections?

Not that I know of.

^^
No, you cannot. You're in the club or you are not in the club.

I was there in 1982 when some guy named Flutie, who just the week before thrust himself into the national consciousness when he threw for 400-plus yards against Penn State, led the Eagles to a 34-21 win at McGuirk. BC had a spectacular goal line stand in the second half that essentially sealed it. UMass had first-and-goal from about the 5 yet failed to score. If my memory serves, the late great Gary Pearson was stuffed on 4 straight plays.minutefanjsf wrote:I was there in 2007 when we almost beat Matty Ryan. No moral victory there. Yes you can. I do it every game. The elevator lets you off on the main concourse and you can ride back up too. Just make sure you have your club level tickets.

You absolutely can move from club to other seats. I do it all the time for Patriots and UMass games. You can either take the stairs (not the ones you enter the stadium with) down to the other sections or the elevator. The only thing you can't do is take the escalators out of the stadium and try to renter.
