I'm sure everyone already knows, but it might as well get posted:

I didn't think UMass would hire a white male. I would guess that either Verdi is considered an excellent coach by those in the know or that other coaches turned down/weren't interested in the position. I really hope it's the former.

^I think Bamford is his own man, and hires whoever he believes is best for the job.

^ I was jut thinking the same thing.

With this hire made, a few things crossed my mind about Bamford - all of them good....

1. He was focused and decisive - he didn't waste any time getting both jobs filled.
2. No agencies and very little hoopla
3. Neither hire was at the top of any of the experts' lists.

Time will tell if the hires were good...buy I'm pleased with how he took care of business.

Shouldn't we just shut this topic down and start a new one for the new coach? How about it Mike?

From what I've heard Ryan pretty much left this hire up to Darrice Griffin. Obviously he had last say, but she pretty much ran the search.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

Compare this quote from R2L with his quote on our hockey hiring, and this looks like an outstanding hire.

Geno ain't walkin' thru that door!

Ryan said that from the start.

Berkman - You can do that anytime you want.

I thought that Mike is the one to make that decision.
