Hi guys, I’m new to the forum and extremely excited to be able to share my thoughts about UMass basketball and football with all of you! I’ve been a long-time reader of UMassHoops and a lifelong UMass football and basketball fan since I started going to games with my grandparents back in 1998 when I was 8 years old.

I thought that since this thread hadn’t been updated since the start of the season I would write a quick overview of Minutemen in the NFL. Currently we have 4 players on NFL roster:
1. James Ihedigbo, S, Lions- So far Diggs has started all 4 games for the Lions racking up 28 tackles, 1 sack and 3 Forced Fumbles
2. Vladimir Ducasse, G, Bears-Vlad has started all 4 games for the Bears at RG
3. Victor Cruz, WR, Giants-Vic has missed the first 4 games of the season for the Giants with a calf injury, still no timetable for his return
4. Rob Blanchflower, TE, Steelers-Blanch was drafted in the 7th round of the 2014 draft and spent the season on the Steelers practice squad. He came in this year looking to win the 3rd TE spot but suffered an injury and ended up on the season-ending IR

Also a quick look at the players on 2014 rosters and 2015 pre-season rosters (some of which might get signed as the season goes along)

1. Jeromy Miles, S- played in all 16 games for the Ravens, starting 2 finished season with 28 tackles 1 INT and 1 FF. Signed with Giants for 2015 season but was cut before the season started. He’s the most likely of any UMass free agent to be signed
2. Jeremy Cain, LS- was the Bears long snapper for all 16 games in 2014 but wasn’t re-signed after the season. He’s also one of the most likely to be signed in-season should there be an injury or inefficient long snapper in the league.
3. Julian Talley, WR-Talley spent the past 2 season bouncing up and down between the Giants active roster and practice squad playing in 2 games apiece in 2013 and 2014. He started this season on the Giants practice squad but was released this past week. He recently had a tryout with the Bears
4. Emil Igwenagu, FB/TE-Emil spent the 2014 season in the Lions practice squad before battling and ultimately losing out on the Lions FB job to Michael Burton. If Igwenagu doesn’t resurface this season he could wind up signing a future/reserve contract for 2016 as he is a versatile player and can play TE, FB and contribute on special teams
5. Jean Sifrin, TE-Jean became the first player in UMass Football history to declare for the NFL draft early. After going undrafted he was quickly signed by the Colts but waived after mini-camp. He recently had tryouts with the Saints and Redskins
6. Josh Samuda, G-After playing in all 16 games as a rookie in 2012, Samuda spent 2013 out of football before signing with the Vikings. He suffered a gruesome ankle injury in mini-camp and was put on IR, which could have ended his NFL career as he has not played in an NFL game in over 2 seasons
7. Michael Cox, RB-Cox started the 2014 season on the Giants practice squad before being promoted to the active roster. He played in 4 games rushing 4 times for 33 yards before he suffered a broken leg that ended his season. He was waived shortly after the beginning of the 2015 league year
8. Anthony Dima, G-Dima signed with the Browns as an UDFA for the 2014 season. He was waived and picked up by the Texans but ultimately spent the 2014 season out of football. The Chiefs signed Dima and he played RG in the preseason but was cut by the team and hasn’t resurfaced since

Not sure if this is the absolute best place to put this, but our old part-time quarterback Brandon Hill just signed with the Tampa Bay Storm of the Arena Football League. His transfer to Monmouth was a good move for him as it looks like he had two successful seasons as their starter.
