We continue to work with Lo re: several key issues...
June rent and utility bills will be paid via donations...
more donations needed to keep a month+ ahead...
rcd a nice donation from an out-of State alum who was at the Lo 7-for-8 three pointers (1st half) game vs. Penn State @ the Cage...

the latest mix of donors included alums & non-alums, old friends of Lo, in-state/out of state people...

a quality holiday weekend to all...

As we continue to work with him every day, we are hopefully moving forward re: getting him to MA to see the doc...
I faxed med record authorizations to three med facilities on May 11; and followed up yesterday a.m. with all three.

The two in MA sent his records to the surgeon last week; and, the the third, in GA, had not, but said they would research the status and get back to me. A half hour later, they called me back and said their med records copy service would get the records copied yesterday; so, I hope they'll get to MA by week's end or beginning next week, after which the surgeon can review them all and decide how/when we bring him north for imaging.

When I know that, I'll speak with Athletics re: doing a Lo BBQ event on Campus when he comes. Lo definititely likes that idea, and it's time for him to meet as many as you as possible.

Donation continue to come in, albeit slowly. We are just about OK for the July rent and utilities; not beyond then.

T's remain available, with same day/next day turnaround time.

Wonder Bar...
will be open today @ 4 p.m.
pizza & live music...

Bobby Wonder liked the idea of trying it out for the Lo benefit, and will be doing it this summer...not sure if every Sunday...

Lo...
Lo grew up in the Bronx pre-moving to GA...
very near Yankee Stadium...
gotta love this...
He and kids in the neighborhood, when Yankee were away, would go to nearby Yankee Stadium, go in, and play stick ball on the infield diamond...

It's still on the table, ready to roll...
and ESPN wants to do it...

I cannot get into the details for the delay here...
other than to say I am 100% aware of what is going on, am in touch with them...

hopefully, what needs to be cleared up to get it out...will be soon...

Lo's Birthday (44) is coming up mid-July...

If anyone wants to send him a card, please send them to me to collectively package and mail...

To keep them personal...
send them to:
Lorenzo Sutton
c/o Ed Rubin
P.O. Box 201
Harvard, MA 01451-0201

and put something on the envelope...
"Happy Birthday" is good...I can figure that one out...

I will not open the envelopes...

If you want to enclose a couple of bucks for him, fine...your choice; but we really need anything more to go into the account I have previously posted info on...

thanks...

Tom & I continue to work with Lo...
With several issues going on at the same time, we are prioritizing them as best we can.

The Social Security process is moving forward, and a hearing is scheduled five weeks hence. I sent copies of med records to the attorney's office today, after marking pages I considered most useful.

The financial situation is near-crisis. The July rent and current utility bills are covered. Money has been allocated for an eye exam and contact lenses, food, gas, and basic household needs, as well as the health club dues previously discussed.

The remaining donation money totals $164.80.
Very little has come in to the donation account lately.

I spoke with Lo's SocSec atty a while ago (she called)...
hearing is Tues., in Atlanta. Concern #1 is getting him to the Court.
There is no way in the world he should attempt to drive into downtown Atlanta during a.m. rush hour (or anytime)...

I called a UM alum frat bro of Lo I met with in GA, to see if he can help.
He is a teacher and has mandatory training classes next week, but will try to see if he can work something out; otherwise, the likely course of action is to get Lo to drive to the nearest MARTA stop and train in...in which case, I'll need to get him $$$ for gas and fares...

Assuming the judge approves the claim (I am not sure if we are talking SSI or permanant disability), either way, we'll need to get him a Rep Payee, because the judge will not release claim $$$ without one, which is definitely a necessity.

I am not planning, nor willing to be his Rep Payee. It really should be someone nearby.

The atty mentioned his housing situation. We are all in agreement that he needs to be in a smaller, more affordable place, which would cut those costs by 60%.

A couple of $100 donations have come in in the past few weeks...not a lot $$total, but enough that will help cover the new water, gas, and electric bills and some gym fees; nothing more, and definitely not the Aug. rent, that he will have to find other sources for...

I did get the water repair bill for the leak/backup problem after he moved in. The landlord paid that bill, but the water co. may give a partial rebate for the overage use before it was repaired. At most, this could be $50, but it's worth a quick letter from me to county water...
