I need a new team......

Post by Scott O » Sat Jan 10, 2004 7:05 pm

I'm not mentally strong enough to handle this anymore. I need to start rooting for a program that isn't the most dissapointing program in division 1 (has any other program in the last 10 yrs crashed as much as UMass?). Can someone suggest a better team to back? Suggestions include:

UConn - A-hole of a coach, but we woiuld love him if he had built up UMass the way he built of UConn. They're so good year in, year out.

BC - Close to boston with TEd Sarandis doing play by play. Not a fan of their alums, but I certainly am jealous. I could not imagine how good it would be to have my team be in the ACC.

Temple - nah, they suck, but cetainly not as bad as us.

Texas TEch - Coach Knight got pissed at his fans for a lack of support. Say what you will about him, but he is never boring.

URI - Had a few bad years, but have also had some really intgersting and competitive one's over the last 10yrs or so. Good coach.

Memphis - Why did you leave us Coach Cal? Why???

North Adams STate - not sure if they have a team, but if every UMass fan started rooting for them, I'm sure their little gym would rock if we could get 2000 people in there.

So I guess I'm either a UConn or North Adams State fan - which is better?
Retarded artistically. Idiotic in other respects.

Its not North Adams State anymore its Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

Also if you watched Coach Cals team today they had the same problems that UMass showed against GW.

Hang in there Scott. With the right leadership this team could be good sooner than later. Plus North Adams is way too far

Just how do you know what the buy out is? Are you just making it up?
They may not be great, but they won't be boring!

Regardless of the buyout, in the last interview with Thorr that I heard, he was very high on Lappas and the future. Unless something very drastic happens in the AD situation, Lappas is going nowhere this season or next.

Btw, we still have the Pats, damn it.

God, I can't believe people talking about buying out coach Lappas. Look what that team did in the second half today. They ebat GW by 9 points.
Plus, when home attendance is reduced to zero, think how much money the school will save by not having to hire security, concessions and other staff that works the games now.

The sarcasm's becoming pretty old. Which kinda sucks, since we're looking at a year and a half more of Lappas at the helm at the very least. We have no AD, no funds, and no realistic way of getting out of the remainder of a bonehead 6-year contract. Give Lappas credit for this -- he snookered a hell of a sweetheart deal out of our past AD. Too bad his business prowess can't translate to the basketball court.

The new team should be Williams College. They did something that we have and are incapable of doing. They beat Holy Cross this year. Sure they're D3, but they win the games they are supposed to and the ones they're not supposed too. Remember when we could do that? Now I truely EXPECT that we will lose ever game and am surprised when (if) we win. Negative, sure, but what is there to be positive about?
