From the article
"St. John's is expected to make initial inquiries toward... Louisville's Rick Pitino and Memphis' John Calipari."
Sure. And while you're at it, why not go for John Wooden?

Jarvis is and always has been an asshole. There was a game in DC that started at 12:00, UMASS clearly had a let down, and Jarvis made sure not only to rub it in, but encouraged the students to charge the court and his players (Alexander Koul) to jump on the rim and chant overrated.
There was another game at The Bill when GW handed UMASS the first loss at the new arena. Lou Roe got into a shoving match and nearly got hurt, and Jarvis seemed to be encouraging it. Jarvis never laid one compliment on UMASS, even when UMASS was towing the line for the conference and making it look good to the NCAA Tourney Committee. Even John Chaney complimented the UMASS program at the time, but not this bastard.
St. John's should have done this year's ago. That program was once a perennial top 25 and tournament team. Now, it sucks.

1. "Tell Calapari he's a lucky son of a bitch." 93-94, after Umass came back from as much as 14 down to win 56-55 on a Camby dunk.
2. Fist-pumping at center court after beating Massachusetts without Camby in 94-95 (who had pulled his hamstring)
3. "I hope Massachusetts will not use that as an excuse...", comment in postgame on Camby's absence.
4. On infamous Chaney outburst, which Chaney himself later apologized for: "He's got a point."
5. Showing true class, re-inserting his starting line-up up by 14 in 93-94 with :40 left
6. Just to rub it in just a bit more, "Hey listen, it's been a pleasure, as always, being in the great state of Massachusetts."
Karma, oh sweet Karma.

Good riddance Jarvis!! Please don't anyone suggest this ass to come to Amherst. I'd like to see the Johnnies hire coach Cal. He could do some serious recruiting in NYC for the St. John's program. It would also leave Gonzales as a possible cadidate for UMass, even though we would have to put up some big money.
Is it realistic to expect a coach to leave their program and move in the middle of the season? I wouldn't think so.

I like Jarvis the same way I like Chaney. Each possesses a polarizing personality. Sorry to see him fired. A 110-61 record is not too shabby after 5 seasons. That's 20+ wins per season if my math is correct.
Hell, he'd be Governor of Massachusetts if he posted the same record at UMass over the past five years.
I'm sure he'll land on his feet elsewhere. Best of luck to him.

All of the above has irritated me in the past about Jarvis. In particular though, the worst was when he somehow managed to blame Christopher Columbus and years of repression against indigenous peoples for a particularly shitty performance that GW had against UMASS. That was the pièce de résistance !!
The guy was / is just a smug prick. He was a sore loser and an a worse winner. Everything the guy got was "owed" to him for one reason or another (F-ing Douch-bag).
During one of CBS' selection shows they had a camera in Jarvis' camp. The idiot sat there with a pensive head cocked to one side look like he was the f-ing leader of MENSA or something.
Unlike his MO (giving credit to anyone or anything) I will give him props for being a pretty good coach though. It would not surprise me if he ended up in a mid-major coaching job next year, maybe he can take Lappas with him
