I love how simple the offense is. Let the guys play lacrosse and take advantage of their quickness and skills. If Calvello continues to dominate at X, this is going to be a very good season. So many freshmen playing key roles. I love the way these guys play. 8)

Mariano is only a freshmen??

This team could be really good, and so many underclassmen. Future looks bright! Very impressive for a young team to be so physical.

Oliveri made some huge saves late in reg and OT to give us achance at the W.

What a weekend for UMass! Quick beats the Russians, hoopers beat GW at GW, and the gorillas beat #9 Ohio State (we'll forget hockey played any games haha)

Great win for the Gorillas! The X was dominating. Freshman looked great and Zach was spectacular. If UMASS can eliminate turnovers they might be special. Congrats to Coach Canella and the boys.

^^ Wow 78, that's insane that there's only 5. That'd be like a basketball team with only 1 or 2.

Wow, just a heck of a recruiting job by Coach Cannella. First years playing major minutes and important to the win.

Lots of poise by UMASS as Ohio State kept coming back, and we would answer.

We dominated faceoffs, so critical for possessions. DId not check the stats yet, but we must have won 70% of them.

Made a statement. Good for UM.

First time I have ever seen UMass Lacrosse on TV. I think I made my son a fan as well.
Oh my god, they love state schools out here.

I think faceoffs were 19-8. Calvello is a monster at x.

To quote a friend of this board:

I think the keys were Calvello was dominant at the FOGO position, UMass had more possessions and kept OSU's offense out of the game. UMass really got after ground balls as well, really loved the effort and physical play. What a great team win.

Oh yeah, and holding Jesse King to one assist was huge, UMass' defense really frustrated him.

Has anyone been able to find highlights or a replay anywhere? I was hopeful NBC Sport's website may have something (as they usually have highlight packages after basketball games), but I don't see anything yet.

I'd like to watch that OT again.

In my opinion, as the year moves along and this team matures and cuts down on unforced errors, it could be a very scary team to play. We have a lot of talented guys on offense. Too many for the opposition to key on one or two. Love the style we are playing.

I was pleased to hear the announcers talk about Reed Goodhue, giving serious praise to a kid that doesn't play, citing his senior leadership for the team and his mentoring of Oliveri.

Our frosh made quite a contribution! Also, with all the attention pre-season on Mooney and Oliveri, Izzo is our MVP. He is outstanding getting us out of messes. I was glad that he got a goal as a reward for all the dirty work that he does.

Jacovina did the in-game timeout offensive coaching, and Greg just watched until a word at the end. Nice, except he is might ready to be a head coach somewhere.
