The best ever! Congratulations Sam!!
Re: Sam Breen
I was at the game. The team obviously knew she needed 23 points and Tory left Sam in when he put in the bench players at the end of the game. He waited until she got her 23 before taking her out. Good job all around and congrats to Sam on a fabulous career.

Re: Sam Breen
Really happy she was able to accomplish this during the regular season, and at home. Great stuff. It's been an absolute pleasure seeing the greatest WBB player in the school's history. Just amazing.

Re: Sam Breen
The Mid-Major POY award nominee list is down to 5, and Sam is among the finalists

Re: Sam Breen
Overall, her stats are better than the other four. The Drexel player is a lot higher in scoring average, but she is a guard and Sam has almost as many assists as she does, triple the rebounds and more steals. First player from UMass to be a finalist.

Re: Sam Breen
I don't think this is lost on those that reads this board, but I still feel this needs to be said:
We were witness to the best player in the history of the Women's Basketball program, as well as a top athlete in all sports in the school's history. Never forget what we were all able to experience and enjoy.
Thank you, Sam.

^ Yep, it's a damn shame that more fans and students didn't "WITNESS" her too!
Re: Sam Breen
I went to several games over the last two seasons and am happy to have seen Queen Breen dominate.
I got some news about her that was interesting but proved to be false. At the game last night a friend told me that she's the daughter of Mike Breen, the former contributor to the old Imus in the Morning program and now the well known Knicks/NBA announcer.
Turns out that her father is indeed a guy named Mike Breen, but he's not THAT Mike Breen.
He's been a regular attendee at the Bill and was there with Sam's sister last night.
Good luck going forward Sam and thanks for all you've done for UMass women's basketball!!

Re: Sam Breen
^ Ha ha. Your friend assumes too much on the last name. You're right, she's not part of THAT Breen family.
(Quick useless sidenote, I used to work with the NBA announcer Mike Breen's brother.)
Back to Sam, I'm going to miss having her around. She's been such a great ambassador for us, and we'll always be proud of being able to call her our own.
I'll be curious to see & hear about her next chapters in life, whether that's pro ball somewhere or something else entirely. And looking forward to seeing when and how UM chooses to cement her into our legacy, with a retired number or whatever. Would be nice to see someone from WBB get a statue in the plaza.
