A lot of turnovers from Destiney and bad shot selection from the guards. Hailey was so efficient today but there were a lot of times the "best basketball" shot was ignored in more selfish play. I think the commentators said Philoxy leads the A-10 in turnovers per 40 mins. Not a great stat line but there is time for improvement.

That said, the team still got a win. In the big picture, the game was pretty good. Just some things to work on around the edges before A-10 play IMO.

Verdi gets Sam Breen added to the mix. I read that she can play following the last day of classes in the 1st semester. Not sure if that includes exams.
For those that don't follow UM women's hoops, she is a 6'1 forward who transferred from Penn State.

From her Bio:
Before College: Played high school basketball at North Catholic in Pennsylvania ... Was tabbed the 2017 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year as well as the PIAA 4A Player of the Year ... Was ranked No. 67 nationally in the Class of 2017 by the Dan Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report ... Over the course of her North Catholic career, Breen amassed over 2,500 points.

On the bench for us, sitting out as a transfer, is Maddie Sims who just happened to be at Siena last year. I know why Verdi recruited her. Siena beat us 64-59 last December. Maddie went for 23 and 11. For the year she averaged 12 and 8.

When is the last time the women's team had a 5-game win streak?

I did a quick check and it looks like they had a 6 game winning streak in Feb. 2016. A bit surprised that it was in conference play. They only won 12 games that year.

That 6 game win streak was followed promptly by Dawley's firing. I really enjoy this Verdi team. With Breen eligible to play on Saturday, I would continue to look for good things from this team.

Well, technically the streak was followed by a loss in the A10 Tournament. That was followed promptly by Dawley's firing!
