Best wishes to Coach and family. Have seen several women on the team make comments about how the Verdi family is close to the team. Has to weigh on the players as well.

Gals lead at the half 46 - 40. Looks like some students, at least band students, are back because there is a good sized band at the game.
I have noticed that the band is wearing "T" shirts with the number 6 on them. Does anyone know the significates of that?

Lost 84 -79. They were in it until around 3 min left in the third period. They missed a couple of shots and St. Joe made a couple and the next thing you know they were 8 - 10 points behind and never recovered. St. had too much height for us to deal with the whole game.

6 is sixth man. Like 12th man in football.

We couldn't get the ball. Outrebounded by a ton. St. Joe's was bigger and tougher. Still better than previous years.

Gals play at SLU tonight. The season seems to be slipping away. Both teams are 8-9 but SLU is 2-2 in conference. As usual we are undersized and have a limited roster. Here are the SLU starters: Points, rebounds, assists, steals
3 • Jackie Kemph G • 5-7 • Sr. Arlington Heights, Ill. 14.2 2.5 7.7 0.8
10 • Jenny Vliet F • 6-2 • Sr. Arlington Heights, Ill. 9.2 7.4 1.6 0.9
15 • Paige Rakers F • 5-11 • R-Sr. Carlyle, Ill. 8.2 3.5 0.9 0.5
20• Jordyn Frantz G • 6-0 • Jr. Wakarusa, Ind. 8.9 2.4 3.1 1.2
42• Maddison Gits F • 6-4 • Sr. Fitchburg, Wis. 10.5 8.6 0.9 0.4

Gals have lead all the way and lead by 7 at the half 29 - 22. Doing decent rebounding considering St. Lou has a taller team. We are not shooting that good but good enough to lead in the game.

Lost 64-63. Incredibly pathetic. Not for nothing, but in addition to a dearth of talent, this team is poorly coached...Had a 7-point lead with 3 minutes left. Scored zero points the rest of the way, including two straight possessions without getting a shot. Hampton-Bey missed a shot with about 7 seconds left and they allow a St. Louis player to get the rebound, drive all the way to the hoop and get fouled. My optimism for this program has completely disappeared. Not going to waste any more time on it.

Lost by 1. Fouled SLU with 1 sec left in a tied game.

I'm been a supporter of Verdi, but tonight has me questioning things. Up 5 with under two minutes. Never get a good look the rest of the way. Up 2. He goes man and they get blown by for a layup to tie it. Still no problem though. Tie game 25 seconds. Get the last shot to win or go to OT. Calls timeout, they delay the clock but only until 12 seconds. They space the floor 5 out, Mulligans defender just camps in the paint because she's not going hurt them from outside. BHB goes 1 on 2 and shoots a contested jumper in the lane with 7 seconds, STL rebounds, goes down the court, gets off a layup with 1 second, misses but it fouled. Makes 1 of 2. Game over. Any coach worth his salt knows in that situation you shoots with 3-4 seconds, allows for a putback if you miss, but if the defense rebounds all they have is a full court heave. Girls needed this one, coach let them down. Also, another 3rd quarter where they get vastly outscored after being up at HT.....
