UMass grad to be proud of ...

Post by Ewan's Dad » Sun Dec 02, 2018 1:11 pm

I was listening to "Only a Game" on NPR on my way to the grocery store yesterday and they had this pretty interesting piece on the new commissioner of the West Coast Conference, the first Latina to be named commissioner of an NCAA D1 conference. My ears perked up when they said she went to UMass and played basketball for the Minutewomen.

Here's the podcast: https://www.npr.org/podcasts/510052/only-a-game (Nov. 30)
Her's her bio on the WCC website: https://wccsports.com/staff.aspx?staff=1

"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

I remember Nevarez well. I used to go to a lot of women's games in the early 90's.
