Where's the "like button" cuz I like this post. Maybe because I am an old white man I prefer New Balance - but more New Balance are made in the U.S. than any other brand (low bar though). I also like Warrior hockey equipment. Good Boston-based company.
Old whitey here who has been buying Nike Air Monarchs for a very long time. Hope they keep making them because they help me keep my old balance. Oh, and not for nothing but Kaepernick can stand on his head for all I give two shits about the phony make 'em up as they go along NFL rules.

^ “I’m not surprised one bit that the Monarchs are a fashion statement”

Swampy and "fashion statement" are mutually exclusive concepts.

"Back in the day", Chuck Taylor's were today's Jordans. I'm pretty sure that a few of us remember them.

I went several years with the red (or black for the more formal events) Chuck Taylors, both high cut and low cut. I graduated from LS's Keds to the Converse brand.

My fifth grade teacher wore Chuck Taylors everyday to school, always different color than day before. Guy must have had every color they made.
