UMass dining is #1 again!
They've come a long way from the 80's=90's chicken pucks, beef strudel, and mystery meat!

We've had similar discussions before, but the food in that era was a lot better than what we had in the late 60's. Even very hungry 19 year olds were throwing food away.

I still can't wrap my head around this. What no Spag Balls?

In the mid 70s the DC introduced me to textured soy protein, that sounded so yummy.

I ate in the dining commons from fall 83 to spring 85. I loved the food. In my house growing up, we didn't have multiple choices for every meal and we didn't have unlimited amounts of it. I went from 175 to 215 my freshman year.

R&G, same here. I thought the food was great. Can't imagine what it's like now

Blame it on the food... I'm sure that is all you consumed, right

Always liked the food at UMass, even though I had heard horror stories from my cousins and siblings of my friends.

Put a couple logs on the fire and eating kraft mac & cheese right out of box mixed with water can taste pretty frickin good

NBC10 did a feature on UMass Dining tonight on their local news, saying that Princeton Review voted us number one for the fourth straight year. The piece focused on the diversity of the offerings, and specifically on some of the ethnic dishes. The reporter sampled several dishes while seated with Ken. 45,000 meals a day are served this year.

I still don't understand why the Amherst DP Dough closed down. It was the original and they are still in many other spots.

I also thought the food was pretty good in the 1980's, but then I went to Hampshire in Southwest before a Hockey game last winter. For me it was like entering the Chocolate Room in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
