Heard snippet of interview with her some years back on the radio this a.m.

She was turned down, along with two others, who tried out for "A League of Their Own" womens baseball league.
The best thing that could happen, per her, inasmuch as they got to play in the Negro Leagues, Big Leagues for her...
She was taught how to throw the curve ball by Satchel Paige.
