Denver Hockey posted their schedule featuring "UMass Amherst". Unsurprisingly this received pushback from #UMassTwitter for use of the A-word, including our athletics department. Pretty funny.

As pointed out by @Zig2k, maybe we should refer to them as "Colorado Seminary". That is still their legal name after all.

Despite the logo growing on me, that's one of several (many?) things that irks me with the Power U.

I'm confused... how is it possible to not emphasize the U when saying UMass? Saying "u-MASS" just sounds ridiculous.

I guess that doesn't come across well over text.

No, I emphasize them equally (like most people do). U Mass, not U mass and not u Mass.

And definitely not like this: https://youtu.be/hMD3J4EJfa8?t=25

A sadly hilarious twitter thread regarding our branding as a university and an athletic department...

Part of branding is color, I see many versions of marron some look like BC and Harvard colors. The University of Massachusetts should have an official Pantone marron , like UNC Blue, IBM Blue and use it in branding including officially licensed apparel.

Sadly - Pantone maroon - per a post much earlier in this thread - we do.

I think the prominent branding for as many teams as possible should be Massachusetts as the hockey team does. Do that for a decade and the Amherst thing will go away. The need for the Amherst distinction really only comes up in hockey since Hockey East also has UMASS-Lowell.

Never liked the power U but it is a good small logo. Much prefer the UMass that some teams wear.

The maroon problem is unfathomable. Swamy needs to make a decision here. Prefer the deep maroon color but am fine with the reddish maroon (is that really the color they use). Just get some consistency!!!!!
