2023-24 Season
Re: 2023-24 Season
I got the email, but when I tried to buy tickets at 11:00 it said I had 1900 people in line in front of me. Then it said sold out later. I’m glad that we will have a great crowd there but bummed I didn’t get tickets. Was gonna take a half day but can’t pay the ticket master price . Maybe I’ll buy some tickets from the bc fans for Saturdays game after we beat them !!!!
Re: 2023-24 Season
^ check Stub Hub Thursday night/Friday morning. Sometimes prices drop closer as the approaches and tickets remain unsold.
Motivated sellers happen-there will be things that come up for ticket holders that will make it impossible for them to go....

Re: 2023-24 Season
Not all season ticket holders, so I went secondary and got a good deal for 2 ; then a notice that the seller has withdrawn the tickets ! But with a guarantee, the ticket company replaced them with 2 , a few rows better. Try secondary; Loge 2 & Loge 3 , Balcony 302 & 303 per UM ticket office earlier today. They said they were going to add another section(s) to UMASS , but with a “sell out” per TicketMaster, I don’t see where they will get them.

It's possible it is listed as a "sell out" due to those sections being on hold for the possible overflow for each school. Once they determine that, you may possibly see more seats show up on Ticketmaster.

This game at the "Gaahden" is not the Bruins vs Habs!!!! And it's in the afternoon....tickets are easy to get!!!
Not cheap however!!!

I went through the UMass site, and while the tickets themselves were not that expensive, the total purchase becomes so after paying the legalized thievery known as Ticketmaster fees.

Does anyone have a clue as to how Pairwise is calculated? We are at 12, and the 2 schools right behind us (Western Michigan and Colorado College) have finished their seasons. Both lost in their conference tournaments.
How far do we drop if we lose to BC, and does the score matter? Of course, win the game and not have to figure this out!

Depends on results from across the country. We could drop to 15 if St. Lawrence and St. Cloud win their tournaments. Most likely we are between 12-14 if we lose. Score doesn’t really matter I think just who wins and loses.69MG wrote: ↑Wed Mar 20, 2024 3:31 pm Does anyone have a clue as to how Pairwise is calculated? Can play with different scenarios to see where we fall.
Re: 2023-24 Season
Yes. Basically, each division 1 school is compared to every other division 1 school based on 3 criteria: 1) RPI, 2) Head to Head Record (if they play each other), 3) Average winning percentage against common opponents (if any)
Between the two schools, whoever has the higher RPI gets one point, whoever has the higher average winning percentage against common opponents gets one point. Each school also gets a point for each head to head win they have against the other. Whoever has more points wins the comparison. If the comparison is tied, the tie breaker is RPI.
Then, a table is made listing how many comparisons each school wins. Whoever wins the most comparisons is 1. Whoever wins the next most is 2. So on and so forth. If there is ever a tie with most comparisons won, RPI is again the tie breaker.
RPI is complicated. You need a computer to figure it out for you but it can still be understood in theory. Basically it is a weighted average of your winning percentage, your opponents’ winning percentage in games that don’t include you, and your opponent’s opponents winning percentage in games that don’t include your opponents. These last two things are basically strength of schedule. It is possible to beat a really bad team and have it hurt your RPI cause it hurts your strength of schedule. If this happens, that win is ignored when calculating your RPI. Additionally, teams get quality win bonuses for their RPI for beating teams with good RPIs. See the link below for more info on the quality wins bonus.
The weights each of the 3 criteria for RPI is tweaked every now and then. Click on the link at the end of this if you care what the weights are.
Also in RPI, home wins and road losses count as 0.8 wins/losses. Road wins and home losses count as 1.2 wins/losses. This is to incentivize teams playing OOC on the road as you get more credit for a road win, less credit for a home win, more punishment for a home loss, and less punishment for a road loss. Also, 3 on 3 wins count as 2/3 of a win and 1/3 of a loss, 3x3 losses count as 1/3 of a win and 2/3 of a loss. These combine, so a road OT win counts as 1.2*2/3=0.8 wins and 0.8*1/3=0.2667 losses.

Re: 2023-24 Season
Ouch…our boys got smoked.
They needed to score during the 5-minute power play.
Still may play in the NCAA’s though…
