Has anyone signed up for the CBS All Access for Hockey East games? How's it working and what does it cost?

There is a "try it free" button that I want to use tomorrow night for Cale's game to test it.

What do we have here? In addition to honoring Cale and Keenan tomorrow night, Carvy said this today: "we will be making a big announcement this weekend about the future of our hockey program."

I did the "try it free" for a previous game and then canceled right after. They've been emailing me like crazy since then to sign up again. It worked fairly well (after they fixed a problem they were having airing the game at the start).

I like the streaming. It’s $5.99 or $6.99 a month. Have used it to watch road games as well as a couple of home games I missed. Gotten my moneys worth. Works for the NESN games too. Also has other tv shows too. It works well with my Roku tv as there’s an app for it. Will cancel at the end of the season.

As to the big announcement I have no idea. My best guess is some fundraising thing. Or maybe that the head coaching position has been endowed? But if I’m being imaginative maybe a cool mid season tournament agreement with OOC teams to be hosted at Mullins every year? Or a second zamboni?

If it was Michelleto and McCutcheon still, I’d be betting they’re would announce that UMass was leaving hockey east to join the Alaska schools in the WCHA.

I’m so thankful for the AD and Coach we have now!
UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.

Leave the A-10!

A quite large elf was whispering today about locker room and/or training facilities.

Surprisingly little chatter about the hockey team. They played very well last night and looked more like last year's team. They dominated possession, got 2 goals from D-men and Murray was great when he had to be (1st 5 minutes).

The Makar ceremony was well done. Sorry there wasn't a bigger crowd (around 5,000).

The season has been a little weird. After the big wins against Northeastern, the play has been inconsistent. Losing to Merrimac, UNH and Quinnipiac made me wonder how good this team really is. At the same time, it seems like expectations are sky-high. Two years ago, if you had asked me if being rated in the top ten was a reasonable goal, I would have said no...yet here Umass is! I was just hoping UMASS could win consistently. But after going to the national championship game everything got turned on its head.

You had to expect a step back after losing Maker and Ferraro...yet at times they look strong. The four-game stretch where they play Denver and BC twice will show where they stand. The lousy thing is thatv3 of the 4 games are away.

Anyways, the hockey team is making UMASS look good and they deserve lots of support. Kudos to the team and Carvel.

Merrimack was a tie, the losses were NU, BU, QPac and UNH.

My bad. The point really is that most of those teams are in the bottom half of D1 hockey. UMASS should really be beating them handily. Yet, every team should get better as the year goes on if they get good coaching. This weekend streak is sure to help the confidence of the team.

They are definitely getting better. And, more importantly, they are becoming more disciplined. For the most part, the dumb penalties have gone away. They had pretty much a full squad this weekend, minus Davidson, who was hurt Friday night, and they totally dominated a decent Maine team with a very good goalie. Getting Hildenbrand and Gaudet back is a Godsend. Neither is a big scorer, but both are tough, two-way players who throw around their bodies. MDG looked good, but I'm hoping they rest him Tuesday night against Brown to give him a longer time to heal up the ankle. On Saturday night's broadcast, Brock said Carvel told him the ankle is about 80 percent and probably will be around that all season. The more rest for it the better. I keep telling myself how amazing perspective is. If you were to tell me three years ago that UMass would be 11-4-1 and one point out of first place in HEA, I would tell you you were nuts. Yet, here they are and we are concerned that they are not playing up to their potential. It's really fascinating. I liked what I saw this weekend and hope they bury a weak Brown team Tuesday night and then get ready for a tough stretch to open the second half.

Add me to the list who has the app, likes it, watches Hockey East and a bit of the NCHC they offer (along with the AHL in bits) and like JJMC85, will get rid of it at season's end, unless they have some new sports offering.

Also it does have the NESN as mentioned. Like our NESN broadcast team by the way and having watched the other school's productions, we have the best.

It's weird what 1 year can do to you.

I feel like this season has been up and down and has given me some disappointing moments...but the team is ranked #9 in this week's poll and #10 in the pairwise (while only being 0.0011 behind 9th there). #6 in win% too.
