The softball season is going to come down to pitching . . like it usually does. If Oliver is hurting ,which sounds like the indication in yesterday's first game which she was pulled with one out in the fifth of a scoreless game, we are going to struggle as what happened in game 2 which Oliver didn't play in! Our other pitchers haven't shown too much of which one is a frosh and could be effective.

could one argue against Elaine being the greatest coach in umass history? This program has not even come close to being competitive on a national picture since her untimely passing.

It would be hard to find someone that tops her. Having a near top 20 college softball team based in the Northeast is not an easy feat, and she did that year in and year out. Lifetime record - 1185-508-6.
Bamford has erased McCutcheon

I wouldn't expect much from softball this year . . . KIara Oliver is/was are only hope as an established pitcher and it appears she is hurting!

^ But then there is this - a 14-5 beatdown of the #1 seed USF in their weekend tourney:

UMass Softball:
"That was fun! UMass scored a season-high 14 runs on a season-high 15 hits to run-rule the weekend’s top-seed USF on Saturday night! Alyssa and Kristina each put together 3 hits in the win while Kendra hit her 3rd home run of the weekend!"
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."
