My point is no administrator makes D1 conference decisions based on “fit” anymore, it’s based on money, exposure, and stability.dennisdent wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 5:54 pmWho gives a shit about Stanford or Louisville--UMass had nothing in common with either school athletically or academically.Merlin Samuels wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 5:45 pmStanford just joined a conference with Louisville, I think “fit” is out the window at this point.dennisdent wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 1:56 pm ^ They are in a FCS conference same as the CAA, if UMass drops down. UMass just doesn't fit playing weak academic, regional schools of the MAC. UMass doesn't recruit the same type of player academically as Toledo, EMU and others in the MAC. UMass fits playing the other Flagships in New England and Villanova, W&M, Richmond's.
UB, Ohio, and Miami are excellent institutions.
"UB, Ohio, and Miami are excellent institutions." They are good schools, far from excellent.

I think the injuries have really done us in this year. We’ve gone to third string guys playing lots of minutes, especially on the defensive side of the ball. I think many players will be back for Army and also think we have a shot in that game.

Fully agree and looking forward to the game. Been to West Point and spent 3 years in the Army, so will watch from home.minutefanjsf wrote: ↑Sun Oct 15, 2023 7:49 pmI think the injuries have really done us in this year. Go UMass!!

Going to see West Point for the first time with 3 friends. From what I hear, it's worth the trip no matter how the game goes.

You’re right along the Hudson River, add in some foliage, what a beautiful sight to see.

Alive and well. Penn State was a blast... State College is a great town.
You folks (not you, Quann.. I know you travel) really need to get out on these trips and see what other college towns are like, especially the big time schools. That's why I love that we get 1 or 2 of these a year. It is a great fan experience, even if we get blasted on the field. And with Penn State, it's such an easy road trip from MA.
The weather did suck on game day, so that was the real only negative about the trip. The game wasn't a negative since we knew going in it was going to be a bloodbath.
One more thing: those of you using the term "embarrassment" over and over again are no different than the morons that try to correlate the increased applications with the move to FBS. Just stop it.
Stop waiting for UMass to do something big and help UMass do something big. - Shades

^ One UMass fan's "bloodbath" is another's "embarrassment."
Happy Valley is unbelievable experience for a college football game.

Great to hear. You are right, it's an awesome college town nestled in the middle of nowhere central PA which makes it even cooler. Never been to a game there but just from seeing the outside of the stadium, it's an impressive place. I've got my eye on that MS State game next season in early November. That would be a fun trip. Georgia game may be interesting to get to as well. Those look like the two best destinations next year. Let's hope we have a few more W's next season.InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2023 8:20 am

I went there many years ago for our game with them and it is a great experience. Anyone near there should go.
