Re: 2023 Game 6: Arkansas State
Feels like MACtion is renegotiating with ESPN on TV extension and UMass and Delaware are coming in with this for about $2 million per school for 10 years. $250 million - 10 years.
.
Your basketball will be just fine. A10 will likely lose more teams as well. AAC might grab somebody with Army and Big East isn't done.

If it's true... run as fast as you can to the MAC.. being indy will tank the football program
Re: 2023 Game 6: Arkansas State
Apparently Rene Ingoglia made a comment while announcing the NIU/Toledo game that it was only a matter of time before UMass re-joined the MAC. Seems like speculation at this point.
I'd be fully on board with the MAC however. The hoops program could also benefit from the change. The A10 doesn't resemble the A10 that we joined as a founding member. Also I do think that our leadership has to consider the possibility that VCU and Dayton get plucked by either the Big East or AAC as well. But either way football drives the bus.

I did the same. The music selection is atrocious, it's far too loud, and they need to bring in a professional to properly calibrate the speakers to deal with the echo effect.
I also HATE the "Yeah Buddy" thing... it just feels and sounds so forced, heck it even looks that way during the NIL commercial they have... but I'll save that complaint for the end of the season feedback survey.

I'd also like to hear more about this. While $2 million per school obviously isn't AAC money, it's certainly better than what we're getting today by what, $2 million?Miami (Oh) Yeah ! wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 3:04 pm Feels like MACtion is renegotiating with ESPN on TV extension and UMass and Delaware are coming in with this for about $2 million per school for 10 years. $250 million - 10 years.

Would be the best football news we’ve gotten since the first time it was announced we were joining the MAC!Miami (Oh) Yeah ! wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 3:04 pm Feels like MACtion is renegotiating with ESPN on TV extension and UMass and Delaware are coming in with this for about $2 million per school for 10 years. $250 million - 10 years.

UMass Football: 22-3 at home when I was a student.
Leave the A-10!
Leave the A-10!

Definitely agree, but saying that, did not make Matty V happy during the Coach Brown introductions, while we were waiting.jjmc85 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 12:52 pmWould be the best football news we’ve gotten since the first time it was announced we were joining the MAC!Miami (Oh) Yeah ! wrote: ↑Sun Oct 01, 2023 3:04 pm Feels like MACtion is renegotiating with ESPN on TV extension and UMass and Delaware are coming in with this for about $2 million per school for 10 years. $250 million - 10 years.

Our strength of schedule took a hit with ASU losing at Troy 37-3. Score 52 at Umass and 3 the following game.

That's funny. Even thinking about our strength of schedule makes me laugh.Camby4Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 3:16 pm Our strength of schedule took a hit with ASU losing at Troy 37-3. Score 52 at Umass and 3 the following game.

Yes, but Troy probably actually has a “defensive genius”Camby4Life wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 3:16 pm Our strength of schedule took a hit with ASU losing at Troy 37-3. Score 52 at Umass and 3 the following game.

No doubt. But, just remember, part of the FBS sales job was the prospect of big time programs coming into UMass and attracting bigger crowds than what we saw in FCS. Speaking of which, whatever happened to the 15,000 threshold?69MG wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 5:18 pmThat's funny. Rule was eliminated Oct 4, 2023 and never enforced, but replace by financial budget and scholarship requirements, shortening the transfer portal and raise transition fee from 5k to 5 million.JoleonLescottsHair wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 11:06 pmNo doubt. Division I membership requirements
The council also adopted changes to membership requirements for Football Bowl Subdivision schools that:
- Eliminate attendance requirements at FBS schools (effective immediately).
Increase the application fee for transitioning from FCS to FBS from $5,000 to $5 million (effective immediately).
Require all FBS programs to provide 90% of the total number of allowable scholarships over a two-year rolling period across 16 sports, including football. FBS schools will also be required to fund 210 scholarships each year, amounting to no less than $6 million annually (effective August 2027).
For schools that begin transitioning to FBS in 2024-25 or later, requirements must be met by the conclusion of the transition process.
Not to loss more than FCS Football with potential upside. This has been delivered, especially this year with 3/4 million CFP money and 3.55 million in buy games.
However the decline in the A10 and UMass are deep and the numbers look like nearly 3.9 Million loss with basketball. Do realize concessions go to food services.

FY22 Men's Basketball Revenues: $587,017
FY22 Men's Basketball Operating Expenses: $4,454,120
Go UMass!!
