Other teams are in conferences, which have a ready-made schedule.
2020 Season
Re: 2020 Season
I’ll reference a great episode of Billions with Chuck Rhodes explaining the etymology of this saying, the players are most definitely “champing.” Hopefully we get some good news by the end of this week with the announcement of some opponents.

This is the thread from FightMassachusetts, but was more talking about general FBS knowledge of what other conferences and teams are doing.kdogg8173 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 4:15 pmBeing a Ryan Bamford groupie isn't a crime either but I'd suggest you look at how other teams have handled scheduling games and then think about Umass. BTW I wouldn't really call anyone ignorant after fucking up two posts in a row.
Edit: I took Steve’s advice and checked out the 247 football board. 1 post in 2 weeks. Super informative.
The most interesting is the Conference Realignment board and then going to conference you have interest in. It is G5 heavy, right where we are in football.

That said the conferences schedules etc is old news and you will have to go down some.

Re: 2020 Season
BYU, Army, and Liberty are Independents playing games every week.
Re: 2020 Season
Yes, they never cancelled their seasons and where able to fill in quickly. In the above thread, The conferences that initial cancelled the season, changed their minds in Mid-September and where able to proceed with in conference schedule. As independents, only UConn and New Mexico packed it in. The others never cancelled. Even Notre Dame chose to be a full ACC football member for this season. It is commendable that our AD did change his mind as 4 FBS conferences (PAC-12, MW, BigTen, and the MAC) did so. But there are few games to be had.Camby4Life wrote: ↑Tue Oct 06, 2020 9:21 amBYU, Army, and Liberty are Independents playing games every week.
Quoting Michael Traini from FightMassachusetts:
Did have a source reach out this evening and say that it seems likely that the Minutemen could have something set up to play this season by the end of this week. Four game max was what my source heard, with a late October start date.
Army has Halloween free, UMass and Liberty's game date in November is also free, and you'd have to think someone like BYU is a player as well. It's still speculative of course but with some luck we could know what we're looking at soon.
I discussed the info on Twitter as well so check it out there too.

Re: 2020 Season
Based on all of your research on scheduling, doesn’t it look like the major mistake that was made was cancelling the season to begin with. As an independent, there was no redo safety net the conferences had. The spring plan of UConn was never a realistic option. I look forward to your Bamford defending.

If we win 2 out of the 4 games does that make us bowl eligible?

Re: 2020 Season
There are a few options out there. The NCAA Division I Council meets Oct 13-14 and they will determine which plan(s) will be implemented.
Re: 2020 Season
Would be pretty funny if the team didn’t play a regular season game and got a bowl invite.

I assume that you have not seen this 'semi-hit' job by Bohler of the Boston Globe. If posted elsewhere, apologies.

24/7 is reporting GSU on 10/17 in Georgia. That's the Georgia Southern one.
