Game 9: vs Liberty - 11/2/2019
Re: Game 9: vs Liberty - 11/2/2019
It's now halftime. Thus far I've seen THREE offside penalties by the defense, an early penalty by the offense called for too many men in the backfield (who the hell called that play???!!!), just about the worst defense all year, not to mention terrible offensive play calling, especially on 3rd and short (yeah, let's run it up the middle and get stuffed yet again!). Absolutely no creativity by the coaching staff. This is beyond rock bottom!

What kind of offensive coach has a run/pass option offense and never runs the QB! I see why Curtis and Fallon aren't at the game, I bet they see how bad their coaching staff is! This is a sick joke!

Dude’s got 441 and 4 at the half.
I suspect they scale it back in the second but ... the record’s 734, folks.

On the bright side, they've forced two punts!

You know things are bad when your radio guy says, 'Liberty could hang 100' after scoring their 49th point with time left on the clock in the 1st half.

Yes, he's trying to keep a good relationship with Bell. Makes me miss Matty V, who was always honest and straightforward in my view.PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 1:36 pm honest question, what are peoples opinions of Walfish, seems to be a cheerleader to me

In the 50 + years of my going to or watching the games this has got to be the worst defense we have ever had. They did say that we have started 41 different players this year. I will bet that if Brito is still the QB next year we will not win many games. In my opinion we will need three recruiting classes to come out of this mess and become a decent team.
ON the other hand Liberty was very unsportsmanlike in the second half. With the lead they had there was no reason to go for it 3 times in the second half on 4th down.

I don't really blame Liberty. I blame UMass for not coaching and playing well enough to be competitive.
Re: Game 9: vs Liberty - 11/2/2019
We are giving up just slightly north of 58 points per game. Given the remaining schedule, there's still a chance we average 60 against. It's a travesty.

^ Actually UMass has allowed exactly 52 point per game with 3 games left. Given UMass' play 60 per games isn't out of the question.

52 ppg against and every game is over halfway through the 3rd quarter. Imagine if all of these teams played 60 minutes of offense each week, we’d be giving up 70 plus per game. I’ve never seen a defense this bad before. The coaching on defensive side of the ball is scarily bad.

Re: Game 9: vs Liberty - 11/2/2019
The bad sportsmanship issue was the players dropping to the ground in the first half since they couldn’t get the right guys in; one play had two different guys go down on the same play. If Liberty matched the pace of UM in the second half they could have scored 100! They used the whole play clock for a majority of the second half.Berkman wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 2:24 pm In the 50 + years of my going to or watching the games this has got to be the worst defense we have ever had. As far as sportsmanship goes, how about #26 UM DB (protect the non innocent) who blew up the Liberty O line when Liberty was taking a knee at the end.
