This is one dreadful team...

Really hope they have about half a dozen scholarships left that will go to bigger players on the DL and LB. A few massive experienced JUCO linemen "might' make a difference.

Most points the Cons had scored this season was 24 against a crappy Wagner team. There really is no excuse for giving up this many points every game.
Bell's hurry offense will kill the program over time. He had no game plan as usual...
Anyone who comes on here and either defends Bell or attacks my comment --F-You! Yeah I'm salty!

Dreadful team losing to a bad team.is there any hope on the horizon.I don’t see any. I would say drop football but that would hurt the band.

They're 1-7. They'd been giving up an average of 7 touchdowns per game (49.85 PPG).
Today they gave up 56 to the 3rd worst team in FBS...UMass being 2nd worst with Akron bringing the the rear.

You have to give bell a chance, but his continued lunacy of running the hurry up offense when he has what might be the worst defense in the history of college football gives me great pause. Add to that the idiocy of this team’s punting strategy and it makes me question the entire coaching staff. If I was Georgopoulos, I would head for a school that would actually let him punt the ball.

Think I'm done with football this year. Painful to watch. Regression this year has been huge, never seen such a bad defensive team. Feel bad for these players actually, has to be tough getting smoked each week

During the game they said that Brito needs to play to get experience for next year. As far as I am concerned if Brito is the starting QB next year we will not win many games if any.
I have said earlier this year that I would start one of the red shirt freshmen QB's and go with them. Why worry about loosing a year of eligibility with one of them. You recruit at least 1 QB every year and a future recruit could be a lot better. You need to play to win today.

Not a great result of course but it looks to me like Coach Bell is fine with just playing as many young guys as he can all season regardless of the results on the theory that there will be marked improvement next season and thereafter. At halftime Bamford seemed very positive about the overall direction of the program and where Coach Bell is leading us. So I will most likely be skipping next week to watch the breeders cup. I don't really see the point of a game plan designed to hurry up the offense which exposes the defense which has difficulty stopping any offense.... there is something to be said for having a compatible football team - this seems like the opposite of that.

Time to pack it in.....

"Bamford's positive about the overall direction of the program?"..... He must really be a "glass is half full" kinda guy.

I'm not a fan of the hurry-up and I do happen to believe it is leaving our defense gassed.
But honestly, even if this defense was operating at peak performance on every snap, is there any evidence to suggest they'd be able to allow 33.4 fewer points per game? Because that's the reality. Our average margin of loss is 33.4 points (-32.3 scoring margin).
Even when this defense is fresh they can not stop anything. Each opponents' opening drive has been a scoring drive in every single game since SIU. They've allowed 5 touchdowns and 1 field goal to those 6 opponents. When they're fresh! You can't blame the hurry-up there. Two of those have been given even when the defense had great field position (91-yard opening drives allowed against CCU and LaTech).
I'm sure that the hurry-up leaves the defense gassed, but frankly, I don't believe being gassed is the entirety for why this defense is so bad.
