UConn to Big East 2020
Re: UConn to Big East 2020
Guys I support the UMass Football program. A lot of people who have been around the program will always be supportive and appreciative of Coach Whipple and what he has done for the program. If that annoys some folks, so be it - I'm quite comfortable w/my perspective. Now we support Coach Bell and the program and I am very excited to see what the new season will bring and i have high hopes for the future of the University and the Football program.

Per the UConn-Ole Miss contract:
- UConn will receive no guarantee
- Ole Miss will pay Middle Tennessee $1.5 million
- UConn has to schedule a game vs. Middle Tennessee (presumably in 2020)
Re: UConn to Big East 2020
UConn announced a four-year football television contract with CBS Sports. 4 home games this season, all home games in 2021 and onward. Interesting notes:
- UConn is in ESPN’s backyard, but the Huskies go to their “rival”
- UConn gets national exposure... though I’d bet UMass gets more exposure on NESN regionally
- UConn has IMG College as their media rights holder, same as UMass

UConn also gets $500k per year as part of the contract. It’s not a lot, but I’ll bet it’s more upfront cash than what UMass gets with Flo and NESN. Then again, I think UMass gets a cut of the ad revenue.UMass02 wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 12:12 pm UConn announced a four-year football television contract with CBS Sports. 4 home games this season, all home games in 2021 and onward. Considering 90% of the ads seems to be UMass ads, I doubt it is much.

I’d love to shit on UConn, but seems like a great deal to getting their football program national exposure every week for them.

How much is his bonus for retiring?

A massive reduction in his suffering.
Re: UConn to Big East 2020
The Athletic has an article about possible replacements.
Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen played at UMass and was Harasymiak’s offensive coordinator at Maine. The 35-year-old spent 2018-20 on the Los Angeles Rams staff and has impressed many since arriving in Lexington this year. If Kentucky’s offense has a big year, would he look at this job or wait for something bigger?
Arizona defensive coordinator Don Brown is Mr. New England, coaching all over the region and taking UMass to an FCS championship appearance in 2006. He was also UConn’s defensive coordinator from 2011-12. He’s 66 years old but not ready to hang it up yet.

Re: UConn to Big East 2020
UConn's AD is going to secretly hire a very young offensive coordinator from the South; who has never coached in the Northeast; has never been a coordinator longer then two years; has never been a head coach at any level; is coming from a program where the head coach will be fired after two seasons; left a program prior to that one, where the head coach was fired after two seasons. Oh wait, that has already been done!

Not a moment too soon Edsell just resigned effective immediately. There are a lot of talks about how ConnU should move down or cut the program.dennisdent wrote: ↑Mon Sep 06, 2021 4:38 pm UConn's AD is going to secretly hire a very young offensive coordinator from the South; who has never coached in the Northeast; has never been a coordinator longer then two years; has never been a head coach at any level; is coming from a program where the head coach will be fired after two seasons; left a program prior to that one, where the head coach was fired after two seasons. Boy things must have REALLY fallen apart at UConn to have this second announcement of his immediate leaving.
