Re: 2019 Season
I think that it is a lousy rule and should be done away with. How many more guys will be transferring from many other schools?

They still have five (5) years to play four (4) .minutefanjsf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 5:02 amThe allowance to play 4 games and still redshirt are what have allowed these guys to leave like this. These games don’t count towards using eligibility.
So Norwood transfers and doesn't get to play four (4) years
2018 Plays as freshman
2019 Redshirt
2020 Sits out Transfer - NCAA must sit one (1) calendar year from date of transfer enrollment.
2021 Plays as RS Sophomore
If he graduates, he can go somewhere else and play as a Grad Transfer
2022 Plays as RS Junior
He would need to transfer to a two-year school to play four (4) years........
I believe the above is accurate .........
Re: 2019 Season
A lousy rule for the schools maybe but not for the players. The NCAA has historically screwed over the players in favor of the schools. If anything, there should be more rules like this, not less. The players are the ones busting their butts.

The rule is good for the players and the good programs.

Re: 2019 Season
If transfer rates increase, then the NCAA should increase the 25 per year limit. Or unrestrict it altogether.

Re: 2019 Season
Unless he has "left the team" but not UMass. He could return next year without losing a transfer year. That's what I understand that the Houston starting qb is doing. Theory only. I have read that he will enter the transfer portal.

Re: 2019 Season
I realize the sit out year still applies. My point was that the playing these four games is the same as transferring at the end of last year. The rule allows them to train etc. and give a shot at staying. In the past playing a play would have counted towards as a year.TruBluMaroon wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:41 amThey still have five (5) years to play four (4) .minutefanjsf wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 5:02 amThe allowance to play 4 games and still redshirt are what have allowed these guys to leave like this. Re: 2019 Season
Well yeah, if he doesn't transfer then he will not lose the transfer year. The main difference with D'Eriq King (Houston QB) is that he is going to graduate this year so he can transfer under the grad transfer rule and not be required to sit. If Norwood plays anywhere else in FBS he is going to need to sit next season and lose that year of eligibility - unless of course he can get a waiver from the NCAA.
Re: 2019 Season
I noticed that UMass stopped listing the team win-loss record on the latest game preview email.

Amin Touri @Amin_Touri
55m
Michael Curtis is listed as QB1 on the depth chart this week, for those wondering. Would be very surprised if he doesn’t start this weekend. Randall West QB2, Mike Fallon QB3. Brito still out.

Finally! Hope Brito moves to another position before he gets even more seriously hurt.
Re: 2019 Season
Thought about this last season, anyone else think Rodgers would make a good receiver if he played 2 ways? Kids a burner
