And JUCO wide receiver Javon Turner joins the Flagship. I believe he played with Brito in high school.

Defensive tackle Wilson Frederic from Everett, Mass., de-commits from Sacred Heart and commits to the Flagship.

Is it me or does it seem that we are recruiting against FCS and D2 schools? Perhaps they are just filling positions with the hope that next year's class will be outstanding.

Thought the staff made a comment that they would not just fill-up positions. Perhaps compare it to basketball. Sometimes big guys need time to develop. My take is they think these guys can develop and they see things that are encouraging as footwork etc.

Actually think this class will compare favorably to Whipple's last year. They had two highly regarded recruits in Norwood and Jefferson, but dropped off after that. If everyone who has verballed signs they'll have more 3* recruits this year and I suspect there are a few more to come. Given how late Coach Bell was hired and the need to hire a staff quickly, I'm fairly encouraged by the recruiting.

Some of those guys could be sleepers and others could be from top programs where they want to establish a relationship, like Everett.

Having time on my hands the last few nights I researched some of these recent commitments and two common scenarios come through with these young men, athleticism and multi sport athletes.
I’m guessing WB and staff see attributes they feel they can coach up in order to build quality depth as their careers unfold.
Andy Isabella had no offers other than UMass I believe but he had burning speed and as we now know a killer work ethic. Not saying any of these young men will have Andy’s success but they should be fun to watch.

Good Luck to the staff Wednesday and Best Wishes to all these future Minutemen!! Rutgers here we Come!!

Thoughts.......supposedly switching from a pro set to spread on offense and they bring in a 5-11 HS QB whose bio says he’s a pro set QB.....of which they have two (2) returning.... who both are 6-5....one played TE last year, so the switch might be permanent...

Anyone know why Gonsalves is listed on UMASS247 as signing but the UMASS Athletics roster does not have him listed?

Watched the signing show and the new coaches seem very enthusiastic to be at UMass. They named off 20 recruits and expected to get a call from 1 or2 more today. Going to be playing a different style of offense and defense. The spring game will be April 20 at 11 AM.

Gotta love the enthusiasm from all the coaches . . I think they're one of the youngest coaching staff in FBS . . only concern which we've had with other "young" coaches is will they be in over their heads!

I actually liked our old offense, just not the play calling. Changing the defense hopefully means the mindset as well. We were extremely passive on defense.
