2019 Recruiting

Post by m626t » Fri Sep 21, 2018 10:13 am

It's early, but It seems the program is currently ranked 156th. It will be interesting to watch the climb towards the top 125
All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

I noticed that recently. Was shocked how low we are ranked. Hopefully there are a lot of rabbits to pull out of the hat.

Recruiting? Whether or not Whipple gets to 'play it out', recruits/advisers of recruits are totally tuned into the stability of the coach and the program, or lack thereof.

What do we offer, except an excellent education, for multiple losing seasons, in the past, and the forecasted near term?

The forecast for near term is good. Next years schedule is easier by a bit than this year and most think 5 wins this year.

Besides the obvious, we have a fantastic AD that cares about the players/coaches in his program. If I'm a recruit, I'd also think the schedule of who we play in the future should be exciting, a la Mississippi State, UCONN, Auburn, etc. Especially if I was passed up by these programs.

My understanding is that we hosted a lot of recruits on Saturday and we obviously put on a good show for them. I suspect Mike Traini will enlighten us in the near future. Does it translate into commitments, not always, but Saturday's performance can't hurt.

Given the way the season has gone so far, how many recruits do you think we'll sign in the early period? I'll go with an optimistic 4, probably no more than 1 with other FBS offer(s).

I read an article about this young man and his brother whom I believe is also interested in UMass. They were/are up and comers having only played American football for 3-4 years. If I can find it i’ll Post it later.

Found it. Unfortunately his brother committed to Washington State a few hours ago.

Must be something in the air tonight, I just heard we’ve received another DL commitment from Massachusetts, Mike Ciaffoni 6’3” 280lbs from Lincoln Sudbury.
