IMO . . if Coach Bell can EVER convince a Mass guy to pick us over BC I'll know he's a fantastic recruiter!

^ Anyone who has posted here for any length of time knows how I feel about Boston College. Having said that, if you are a talented player who grew up in MA and your choice is between BC and UMass why would you choose UMass? Everything you have read or heard while growing up would tell you to choose BC.

You're right Swampy, it's an uphill battle.

Really hope they can bring in some big DL and a couple stud LB's. The big DE from I think Lowell would be a huge commit to get

Hi Everyone,

I am new here, but have been reading posts for well over a decade. Regarding the DL, The Catholic Conference, Defensive Player of the Year, out of Saint Johns Prep is a 350 pound disruptive monster that has no offers currently, by the name of James Taylor. Although Massachusetts is not known as a hotbed of D1 talent, I can't remember the last time a dominant player out of that league did not go on to play at the next level unless they also excelled in another sport.

Here are his highlights including his performance in the state championship game against Xaverian. He typically beats double and sometimes even triple teams, he isn't fast, but he blows people up!

Does anyone know if this kid is on the UMASS Radar?

I think Bell is going about recruiting the right way, quality not quantity. Getting some big linemen from JC schools is good. I was talking to my son yesterday and he said that either Kansas or Kansas has their whole OL made up of JC transfers.

Let's hope Kansas State and not Kansas. KU football shouldn't be used to measure anything, except maybe how deep of shit you're in.
