Do you mean the reason Kelsey walked was not connected to the process?PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 1:18 pmI believe it was this coach who spilled the beans on the search. Not sure how this makes our AD's strategy so good or bad, I mean he had a coach walk out at the alter and I've heard the reason why and its a doozy!!!

It was Houston and not Charlotte: https://www.whsv.com/content/sports/501469191.html
Wonder if he did it to see if other schools would come after him... It looks like it worked because ECU fired their coach right after Houston said that he had an offer from Charlotte: https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/art ... 85120.html

Correct. Also not sure why our AD even needs to send out an email to us explaining why his strategy is supposedly so awesome. I have also heard the reason why Kelsey jilted Bamford and it is indeed a doozy. But let's hope it was a learning experience that our AD makes a wise selection and that means pretty much ignoring 98% of the candidates I have seen mentioned here and elsewhere... e.g. Jay paterno.... Sweet Jesus BAU I know that weed is legal now but please moderate your intake...PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 1:18 pm Not sure how this makes our AD's strategy so good or bad, I mean he had a coach walk out at the alter and I've heard the reason why and its a doozy!!!

Anyone care to expand on the "it was a doozy" statement?
Hire Matt McCall!
Re: Head coaching options
If RB is as thorough as some of UMass fans I have spoken with, I am confident we will have an excellent new head coach. I was speaking with a couple of guys at the hockey game last night and they brought up the name Ed Warriner the OL coach at Michigan. Seems like it would be an excellent choice, he has a tremendous resume but might be a reach for UMass.
Re: Head coaching options
I'm hoping that not everyone who would be an excellent choice with a tremendous resume is out of reach of the Flagship AD.wmmmfan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 7:53 am If RB is as thorough as some of UMass fans I have spoken with, I am confident we will have an excellent new head coach. All due respect, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart, I'm gonna pass.

When you make the coaching search public it can get very messy very quickly and it can turn off prospective candidates and negatively impact the search.PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 1:18 pmI believe it was this coach who spilled the beans on the search. The Kelsey fiasco had nothing to do with Bamford keeping a tight lid on the search.

What was the cause of the Kelsey Fiasco. Some of us don’t know. And it seems like many do know, so I assume it is not confidential.NilesGold wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 11:28 amWhen you make the coaching search public it can get very messy very quickly and it can turn off prospective candidates and negatively impact the search.PreecherJenkins wrote: ↑Fri Nov 30, 2018 1:18 pmI believe it was this coach who spilled the beans on the search. Re: Head coaching options
I imagine he's taking a lot of flak from the media, fans, faculty, etc, who think they should be included. Or who are yappy. Or who have an ax to grind re: football.
Re: Head coaching options
I know, or at least I'm almost positive I know the Kelsey issue and it is not for public dissemination. I'm not even sure that Bamford knew about it before Kelsey balked.
Re: Head coaching options
As the rumor goes that I heard, the shit hit the fan when Kelsey met the players. Let me make it clear, this is merely the rumor I heard.minutefanjsf wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 11:33 am

Fair. Just seemed odd that a couple people brought it up in this forum, making it seem like it was more widely known.

Re: Head coaching options
Wild speculation and rumors are what make forums. If I remember correctly the rumor out there was that the mass exodus was a key factor. As well as his promise to love them his kids, or something of the sort that completely was seen as fake. I’m not sure how that is a doozy, however.NilesGold wrote: ↑Sat Dec 01, 2018 12:11 pmAs the rumor goes that I heard, the shit hit the fan when Kelsey met the players. Not that JSU can't come back, but Maine is playing some really good ball! Well coached, physical, hard nosed football. I hope Bamford is seriously looking into Harasymiak as a candidate.
