I beg to differ. It is very, very difficult to win a football game on the road when you give up 335 yards of rushing.

Along with Whipple! Forty years of being a fan, alum, donor and I'm fed up with watching this crap he's putting out there as play calls.

It's especially difficult to win when you call a pass to the flats on 3rd and 13 instead of a throw down field. Teams really don't need to beat us anymore, we just need Whipple to be Whipple and will hand it to them.

There were the random play calls on offense that were real head scratchers (randomly putting Comis in, odd third and long calls, debatable choices to punt) but the offense didn't play that badly. This game was lost on the first GSU possession when GSU found that they could run at will. I'd be a little less pissed off if the defense was able to stop the pass but i'm left wondering if I've ever seen UMass give up 26 yards per catch or 17 per pass attempt. The secondary is so bad that I want Jackson Porter back.

The offense scored one TD--I call that bad.

Since we've sunk to the level of debating which is worse the offense or the defense I think it's obvious where the problem lies...

The defense performed near expectations yesterday. The spread was slim and the o/u was low 60s. That means each team was expected to score in the low 30s with the team that got to the mid 30s pulling out the win. Look at other scores from around the college football world lots of scoring, especially from G5 level. GS defense didn't stop UMass mistakes on offense did. Whips post game comments were all about it. Wish he would take the blame and realize the mistakes are due to coaching/scheming/play calling and not all mental/physical errors by players.

We will never forget his great decision yesterday to pull the wildcat out of his ass. Unfathomable.

That's what drives me crazy too. Because this kind of stuff is also on him. Not only is it his job as the OC to scheme and play call, but it's his job as the HC to install the right environment (re: coach, staff, recruits, structure) where he his players are physically and mentally ready for the game.

We talk about how the game has passed him by, but at this point which is he worse at? OC or HC? To me both the play calling and the culture appear to be shit. We're only seeing a glimpse of that but surely blaming the players and walking around like you're hopped up on Xanax can't be healthy. Let alone the ego he has on him for not hiring a god damn OC. I'm really finding it hard to tell.

I hate to say it, but I think we are looking at maybe 3 or 4 wins. Vegas had us at +1.5 and we got blown out AGAIN. Thing is, if we get blown out at FIU, then we maybe be looking at 2 or 3 wins. This is a senior laden roster so the immediate future does not look bright. Last year, we didn't gel until the second half of the season. We are playing a cupcake schedule with the exception of BC and Georgia. It doesn't get any easier than a diet of FIU, Liberty, Coastal, UConn, NEC Duquesne. I think Whipple is over his head being both HC and OC. The vast majority of schools have one HC and another OC. If we can't get to at least 5 wins this year, then Bamford will have to get rid of Whip (someone will buyout his contract).

Just be glad we're not playing Maine this year. Just watched the highlight reel of their win over WKU. Down by 21 but they didn't give up. I give 'em credit.

Don't forget Charlotte. We should get six wins, still. Anything less is a fireable performance.
