Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina
Maybe I am just over the Hawaii game and ready to move on but I think IF we win this game we will be ready for Old Dominion and we'll start out 2-1. If that is the case I can see us taking a 2 of 3 against Miami, G. Southern and App. State. That brings us to 4 wins and I think we can add in the game against Maine which brings us to 5.
Maybe I'm just in a good mood right now but I feel like luck might swing our way for once and we steal a win against Temple or Miss. State. Honestly I think Temple is going to have a tough year being they have a new coach and they lost some key pieces from the past two years so they are probably our best shot.
The optimist in me says we can still get to 6 wins and we'll be flying down for the Bad Boy Mowers Gasparilla Bowl in St. Pete.
Go U!

^ ^^
not that it matters much, but attendance at that "Bowl," which through 2014 had been in the 20s, 20K - 28K, has been +/- 15K past two played...

Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina
I know I am going to be kicking myself late Saturday night, but I have watched a lot of highlights from the CC 2016 season, and we should demolish this team. I am going with 42 - 21 final.

78... that's the same score I had in my head.. they start 3 guys on the o-line that have 0 career starts.. they also have about 9 qbs and an interim HC.. also looks like they are a bit inexperienced in the defensive backfield. I like that we've already played. They had a good year last year but they lost a bunch of guys. We need a dominating performance to get the bad Hawaii taste out.. hopefully our guys are pissed off and they take it out on them.

When was the last time UMass dominated anybody at our same level (i.e FBS not FCS such as wagner), winning by 20 or more?
Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina
On paper, there's very little going against UMass in this game. CC has homefield, but that's about it.TheInsider wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 6:33 am 78... that's the same score I had in my head.. they start 3 guys on the o-line that have 0 career starts.. they also have about 9 qbs and an interim HC.. also looks like they are a bit inexperienced in the defensive backfield. I'm willing to give a partial pass to the defense for what happened against Hawaii... new DC and all, but they need to show improvement as the season goes on and there's no reason it shouldn't start this week. That being said, there's no reason to excuse the play-calling on offense from that Hawaii game.

On the FB Blog it has a link to coastal Carolina that says that they still need to get a Certificate of Occupancy for the stadium after they did expansion and renovations. We were going to go to the game but with the rain foretasted for Sat we decided not to go. Just might go to the Tenn game later in the year. Probably get beat pretty good there but we need to get away for a mini vacation.

Re: Game 2 (2017) Coastal Carolina
We had one in July. Went to Vegas to visit our son who works at MGM. Took a 14 hour bus tour to Hover Dam and Grand Canyon and did a bunch of other stuff. We were supposed to do a dinner cruise on Lake Meed but I goofed up and we missed the pick up at MGM. Called Gray Line Tours on the next day and talked to a supervisor who let us move out the dinner cruise out to next July when we expect to go to Vegas again.
I caught a cold on the way back on the plane I think that lasted a week and then my wife got acute bronchitis which she still has a bit of a cough. We made two trips to Urgent Care for her to get some prescriptions. That is one thing that is nice down here. There are a lot of urgent care and minute clinics around. Something we did not have living in the Berkshires.

Funny how older people like to discus their maladies. I find myself doing it often.Berkman wrote: ↑Thu Aug 31, 2017 10:12 am We had one in July. Went to Vegas to visit our son who works at MGM. I still know a lot of people, coaches included, in the UMass family from going to the FB & BB games for 40 years and the Sport Luncheons just about every week for at least 15 years and this is my way of letting them know how I am doing.
