Got a couple commits today. Jake Byczko and Jacoby Herring both committed. Really happy about that. I think we'll see some more this week.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

We are way behind last years verbals at this time with not one higher profile recruit and there have been almost 600 decommits from programs. Hope we can make a late push this weekend!

^ Word on the street is we are keeping some commitments and offers quiet because we've had a history of getting guys poached at the last minute.

Don't be surprised if you don't hear about our biggest commitments until signing day.

From Michael Traini's site. He's listed as an OLB, but he looks like a safety to me. Good size and good speed for a safety.

^ He'll be a hybrid olb/safety like Lowery and others from last year, they're interchangeable..

The word isn't totally dependable, since the players are the ones who release the commitments and offers. UM releases the signed LOIs. Will be very disappointed if the current commits are the best of the class.

On the UMass FB blog page there is a link to an article in the Daily Collegian and this is a part of it

"Announcement expected

In addition to the signing day event, the official UMass football Twitter sent out a tweet saying there is to be an announcement coming Thursday in regard to the upcoming season."

As Tru Blu says above, if we don't make major scores in the next week or 2 we'll be way behind last year where we had 15 3 stars and have only 3 to date. I don't buy the idea we are keeping "quiet" about some . . . when a kid makes his decision they usually announce on twitter how excited they are, they don't keep it quiet for the school's sake!

Some new commit names on this list that I hadn't heard of before.

Jake Froehlich (Wolfeboro, N.H./Tilton School/Oregon)
Spencer Goldberg (Plainview, N.Y./POBJFK HS/Milford Academy)
David Weinstock (Hamburg, Germany/IMG Academy) https://ee-sportsrecruiting.com/2015/07 ... weinstock/

Another German! Woo-hoo! We seem to do well with those.

Completely agree.. And if a kid is being told to keep their commitment a secret then shame on whoever is relaying that message. If a kid commits here I'm sure there are many more factors going into it than just the football program. Now if there are kids who haven't announced yet because they're tied to our next DC, sure, I guess I'll buy. But I don't think that is happening either.

I watched the tapes of the two linemen who are PWOs and I am excited. They look to me like they have potential.
