Game 9: Toledo

Post by jpatsfan » Sat Oct 18, 2014 5:31 pm

Biggest game of the year and probably the game of the week in the MAC.

Man I wish we didn't let the Bowling Green game go! This would be a match up of the top teams in the east and west of the MAC. Still a huge game, a W would show that our program is really improved opposed to just beating really bad teams the last 2 weeks, and would give us serious thoughts of getting to the MAC championship.....can't beat I just typed that!

This will be a huge test for the d-line and lb's given how well Toledo runs the ball. Hunt and/or Swanson have been able to run against every team they've played including Cincinnati, Missouri and Iowa State. I haven't seen them play but they sure do put up gaudy numbers.

#1team in the MAC.... Gonna be really tough to get a W in this one. Now that we've figured out how to win... You never know!

We certainly can't win if we can't kick extra points consistently. It's still a problem.

For anyone going to the game, there will be an alumni tailgate beforehand: http://umassalumni.com/s/1640/alumni/in ... alcid=1060

UMass will be +16. I see this as another stealing money chance. UMass is 6-2 vs the spread and Toledo is 2-5 against the spread. Get it early before it drops.

Going to be a tough game. Defense is going to need to get a bunch of turnovers.
Looking forward to the 2022 UMass Football Season (Oh boy, just jinxed that one)

Not for nothing, if this team can get a big win against Toledo they could potentially run the table in the second half of the season. Bowling Green is vulnerable, so is Akron and Ohio is up and down. We could potentially pull this off. Imagine finishing 6-6 after an 0-6 start, it would be one of the biggest stories in college football this year. Again, they have to find a way against Toledo. This team just feels like it is beginning to peak at just the right time. Anyone else thinking the same thing?!

If they beat Toledo......yes, they can run the table. I just don't think they're going to beat Toledo.

This game (and the UMass vs. BC hockey game) are my motivation to get through this week. If we pull off the upset against Toldeo, we run the table and finish the season 6-6. LET'S GO UMASS!!!

We already lost to Bowling Green and we don't play Ohio. In addition to Toledo and Akron, we play Ball State and Buffalo.

Let's hope two weeks off means they are rusty and not rested.

Toledo's 18th in the country on the ground at 241.7 yards per game. 6.09 yards per carry. We are 95th against the run (188.8) and 99th against the pass (261.9).

The good news is Toledo's defense is not great shakes either. They are 93rd in total defense, allowing 443 yards per game. That's only 8 yards fewer per game than we allow. They allow 329 passing yards per game. Looks like it could be another high scoring shootout.
