Unless liquor companies are sponsoring college football stadiums, you must be talking about Holy Cross' Fitton Field. You are correct, it does seat more than McGuirk.
Yeah,, I didn't check the post. Somehow fitton became citron.
An Absolut Freudian slip?

Ha, no biggie

I was there for the UMass-HC night game around 2010-2011. Not a bad atmosphere, especially if it ever filled up. The fans in the lower stands have a closer proximity to the field than at McGuirk. The tailgating was limited to Freshman Field, though it was a pretty good scene overall.

we'd better get moving on rounding out 2019 home slate. UNLV no longer available.

Wonder if New Mexico State could start appearing on our future schedules.

Personally like to see the Maine game scheduled for Nov 30th, 2019 and start playing New Mexico State with a home date of September 28th, 2019.

This would leave Sept 7th and 21st available for a home and away game to complete the 2019 schedule.

From Mike Traini.
The Minutemen/Flames contest in 2019 is UMass' first home game with a date for McGuirk Stadium in Amherst. UMass will be hosting UConn and BYU at Gillette Stadium in 2019, and will host Maine in Amherst on a date to be determined. The Minutemen still need two more home games in 2019 to tentatively complete their schedule for that season.

UMass will travel to Liberty to close out the 2020 season, playing the Flames in the final weekend of the year. UMass now has six games tentatively scheduled for the 2020 season and five games tentatively scheduled for the 2021 season. All four contests are scheduled for November, traditionally the most difficult month for independent programs to schedule games.

I would like to see a similar package with NMstate starting with two home games 2020 and 2021 to balance out the Liberty road games. For 2019, i am thinking it will Be Akron and then a wild card P5.. maybe a 1 for 2 series with Miami who only has two home games scheduled in 2019 so play them on road 2020 and then maybe 2024ish..

The other possible P5 is Georgia Tech as they have 3 home non conference games in 2019 at the moment. Maybe Bamford can work some magic with his former employer.

Ga tech no longer available after they schedule home n home with Temple. Time to lock down Akron for 2019 and 2020 series before its too late.

akron and coastal Carolina are like two of the last 4 or 5 schools that would consider road game at umass in 2019.

To completely beat the dead horse to oblivion... Nobody wants to come play in Amherst and that decrepit old "stadium". Until someone donates $100 million for a complete reno, get used to the likes of Akron and Coastal Carolina making the trek to Amherst. Until then, any semi high profile opponent will only play at Gillette (or Fenway). Yes college football belongs on campus, but college football also doesn't belong being played in a crumbling sheet hole.

Horse was dead two years ago, but I like giving it a good kick every now and then. :D

It is a dead horse...like football at McGuirk. There should be one game at McGuirk all year: Homecoming. And it should be against a New England opponent. They are the only football fans and teams that can relate to the shithole of a stadium.

So I'm reading the Friday edition of USA Today over breakfast at our hotel. There is a lengthy story about our future opponent, Liberty University, a "Christian research university." Two comments of note:

1. Jerry Falwell, Jr., who now runs Dad's school, is told that to get admitted to FBS football, he has to prove that they are Baylor, and not Oral Roberts. Nice irony here, as what do they do but hire our old buddy, Ian McCaw, the Grey Wolf, as AD, who had just been booted from Baylor in a sexual harassment situation there.

2. In another bit of outstanding irony, he offers $24 million to CUSA and the Sun Belt to bribe their way into a conference. He is told that they are voted down because of the religious bigotry of member presidents. I'll let you decide where to place Falwell the Elder on that spectrum.

A bit off topic, but my favorite Jerry Falwell quote: "Good Christians, like soldiers and slaves, ask no questions".
