Cage- Thanks for posting. Here is the article from the administration.

http://www.umassathletics.com/sports/m- ... 12aaa.html

Any idea why this was announced on a Saturday morning? Seems the school has been working hard at our legitimacy. Great to see. Also no doubt Gillette was the enticement to receive the home games against BCS programs. Think the somewhat Big East is ducking us? We need to make this work and keep the agreement with Mr. Kraft to ensure future scheduling milestones at Foxboro. And, again as a JET fan, as much as it bothers me, he runs a first classs organization.
Naturally, if we become competitive some may not want to play us at home yet that is a high class problem.

As someone who has been overly critical of the basketball scheduling over the years, I have to give credit where credit is due here...the athletic department did a phenomenal job with this. What a great collection of games.

Chapter- Agree that the OOC schedule is really great. To your point about continuing the agreement with Mr. Kraft I'll say that the best way to assure the continuance of this plan is to SHOW UP at games and also hope that UMass fans don't act in an embarrassing way as far as treatment of the lots and facilites. Nice of him with the free parking and all, but let's get some folks in the seats and hang around for while and eat at some of those Patriot Place restaurants post game.

Wow, we get the first home game in the series, 2014. OK, no longer hate BC for dropping our basketball game.

I love all these games... granted most are away but it will be like that at the beginning. Much better then UNH Delaware and JMU.

6 home games in 2014 probably means 2 MAC games at McGuirk, since we're only permitted 4 at Gillette that year. One could be a midweek game on ESPN and the other would be Homecoming.

They should circulate this info as part of the season ticket reminders. It's the sort of thing that gets people dreaming.

Jackman, isn't the NCAA rule that 80 percent of home games must be in one venue? That would mean 5 of 6 at Gillette in 2014.
I wrote this ... it's gotta be true.

^AFAIK, is the only relevant rule is as follows:
"20.9.7.2 Football Scheduling Requirement. [FBS] The institution shall schedule and play at least 60 percent of its football games against members of the Football Bowl Subdivision. The institution shall schedule and play at least five regular season home games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents. For purposes of satisfying the scheduling requirement, a contest shall be considered a home contest if it is played in the stadium in which an institution conducts at least 50 percent of its home contests. In addition, an institution may use one home contest against a Football Bowl Subdivision member conducted at a neutral site to satisfy the home-game requirement."

I interpret this to mean that you need 4 home games at one site, a 5th home game at either the same site or a neutral site, and nobody cares where you play the rest of your games.

Looked at Matty V article and link to scribd site and the contract says a "minimum of 4 games". One or two games back on campus will be a good thing. Actually hope we start getting more non alumni season ticket holders and it will give them a chance to see their state flagship campus.

Boston Sunday Paper Coverage..

A little snipet in the Globe, just inside on Page #2..nothing special.

This Herald article was better;

I would assume the schedule release was timed with the practice and clinic at Gillette yesterday

I too think the Saturday announcement was aimed at the Sunday papers. Of course the Boston (college) Globe basically had an AP article while the Herald had one of their reporters on it. Globe is so hacky ridiculous...

On a separate note for some reason I wandered over to that tool site BC interruption and I love his spin now. After insisting the series wasn't going to happen he now is focusing on how the game won't draw fans. Compares to BC at Kent St game a few years ago. His ilogic would make Mr Spock hang himself. Funny thing is some of his commenters actually are realistic and have a brain but that kid Brian is a buffoon.

..the BC folks will likely be giving our game away..

Maybe we can surprise them, and show up in mass!

We should petition the Athletic Department to put that game on the season ticket package..not that I want to put money in BC's coffers..but I'd love to see a pro-UMass crowd. Maybe we could take over all the bars pre-game..that would make the "Super Fans" crazy.

The Football scheduling is excellent - in a direct contrast to basketball. Garrett Waller is the administration person for Football scheduling while Tim Kenney handles basketball.
