future scheduling talk
Re: future scheduling talk
Good things UMASS didn't change to the Grey Wolves or it would have been an ugly color showdown.

Darn it!
But seriously, I have family in Siloam Springs which is close to Fayatteville and it would be great to play down there. Beautiful area.

We'll take em! This is probably a series UConn would have snatched up if we didn't. Always good to get the November dates taken care of.

Re: future scheduling talk
Like the idea tossed about on other boards regarding UConn's 2020 independent schedule.
Moving the away 9/3 game to 12/5, which will open up the date for a season opening home game.

Re: future scheduling talk
Against who though? I guess it would make sense if the Albany game could be moved from week 3 to week 1, but it's going to be tough to find a team with a week 1 opening that is willing to come to McGuirk.

Re: future scheduling talk
Yes, said that wrong. It's mostly about UConn having an opening. We're at 12 games so it would be Troy. Michael Traini had an idea involving switching the FIU game to 9/3 and UConn filling the FUI date on 10/24. Then FIU would be our home opener. Not the best team, as don't think we beat them and starting the season with a lose is never good for attendance. Think we should not worry about doing UConn favors. They don't want to play us BB after their loss in was it 2001-02 season.

^ It was 2004-05 Laps last year!
Re: future scheduling talk
If you're looking to start the season with a win midas whale schedule an FCS opponent. Because that big home win in week 1 worked out so well for us last year...
Re: future scheduling talk
You should not be throwing stones at Football when you look at the basketball schedule.
Opening with Western New England College.
Football had 62,312 attendance for 6 games and basketball had 47,737 for around 20 games.
Current attendance in both sports Football and Basketball shown the UMasss die-hart and casual fan cares more about football. We were in the NCAA in 2014 so basketball has been bad for 4 years or less and attendance was 47,737 and average 2652 or 27.9% capacity. Football has been bad for 10 years and we had 62,312 attendance and average 10,385 or 61.1 percent of capacity.

That was an exhibition. They opened the season at home vs Lowell.

Re: future scheduling talk
Do the pro basketball first fans want to go out on a limb and predict with 18 games, they will have higher total attendance than 6 football games?InnervisionsUMASS wrote: ↑Mon Jul 29, 2019 1:17 pm

Re: future scheduling talk
^^ NICE....WSU and Springfield College in previous two (2) years......so do they go to Amherst College or The Elms for four (4) straight Pioneer Valley D3 hoop teams for the schedule. I know the cynics will have an easy answer to one (1) of the choices for next year!!

Re: future scheduling talk
What does that have to do with being wrong about who the basketball team opened the season with?
I really don't give a fuck about who we play in either sport. JUST WIN GAMES!

Re: future scheduling talk
How did my comment possibly sidetrack to the freaking hoops team opening (incorrectly) against WNEC.
My point is a win in week one is far from a guarantee against ANY FBS school. If anything I would think we'd have a better shot in week one than later in the year. Also my point was: a guaranteed win in week one makes little if any impact on future attendance figures as we saw last year. And if you want to do the attendance bet, find me somewhere that records the actual football attendance and I will take your bet.
