This site (usually very accurate) lists the UConn game at Gillette Stadium and the BYU game in Amherst:

Will Syracuse or Pitt ever appear on the schedule?

Just wondering why is that a "no way?" Besides the "what's in it for me" argument of those ACC schools. Or we had our chance in a previous era and blew it?

Would love to see northeast regional powers like Syracuse, Penn State, Pitt or WV on the schedule.

Throw in Rutgers. As well as UMASS has fared against SEC schools with an FCS roster at times, UMASS would garner more interest (and attendance) by playing the eastern schools.

Thanks TBM- I knew we were playing them next year. My hope is all these eastern schools are regularly on our schedule. What we have going with Army is fantastic.

It was reported after BYU beat UMass this year that 2019's game was moving to McGuirk. The Deseret News reported it and I posted it on my site's social media as well. It's at the end of this article: https://www.deseretnews.com/article/900 ... bella.html

The UConn game being TBA is news to me, but very interesting. I stress that I'm speculating here, but it might be that as UConn is currently cratered the Minutemen may have (correctly) leveraged that to get the game to Amherst. Along with their own struggles, there is no point in UMass hosting UConn in a game at Gillette that might draw fewer than 17,000 people.

On the flipside, it may just be a technicality that they have to wait to get confirmation to use Gillette, etc, and the game will still be there as originally scheduled.

There is also the pending work set to be done to McG in the off-season, the same work mentioned in the Deseret News article above that is allowing the BYU game to move to Amherst. If that work isn't done for some reason that may change things.

I hope UConn game is at Gilette. I like going there at least once per season

My preference is to build excitement on campus and with the students. Hope the UConn game is on campus!

I want this game to sell more tickets than McGuirk even with temporary bleachers can hold.

Well that sounds good, short term and long term we could make more money with a sellout at McGuirk. Sellouts drive future demand.
Using original Gillette Contract Agreement to make the general point. We were guaranteed something like 150k* (50% of the first 300k Net Revenue) for the game then a cut up to point that exceed a number and had to pay for Gillette staff plus 21% administrative fee, we can sell some UMass gear but Gillette kept all food and beverage dollars. There are some town of Foxboro fees, lodging and meals for the team with staff and expenses for busing students.

So lets say on campus we have a sellout with 10k at full price $25 would be 250k, then add in concessions. We can pay staff without the addition 21% administrative fee, keep all revenue from concessions say 50k and the additional parking dollars, no estimate. At Gillette and would have to have attendance near the 30k range to be close to even, without creating the future demand buzz on campus.

Completely understand this, that's why I added the temporary stands point. I think temporary stands and utilizing the deck on the FPC could get attendance to 25K, especially if the south wall has been knocked down.
