One would hope the athletic dept is taking the Hockey success on ice and the long term look at Basketball, and football and looking for a NESN or other regional channels and offering a package to be the UMass sports channel. They should use the Hockey East Playoffs, Regional NCAA and Frozen Four crowds to sell that UMass fans come out in droves. Show the recent signees for basketball and football and show there is HUGE potential. Add in the lacrosse teams and I would think they have a decent offering.

It might be easy to do that with football and hockey, but the Atlantic 10 calls the shots with basketball. I’m sure it’s doable for all three or four sports, but may require extra hustle.

It was great having so many televised hockey games. Many of them were simulcast across Canada, a fertile recruiting ground for many college hockey teams. Hope to see several on TV this season for the same reason.

I suspect we will hear about home and home with UCF for 2021/22 and then also a P5 road game for 2021.

Have thought it'd be nice to get Holy Cross in here in 2022.

Ideally wait until after 2021 home game and request the BC game be moved out and slide Holy Cross in 9/17. Right now looks like the first 5 games are all away and that needs to be looked at.

I see it as schedule filler at this point. Doubtful its anything more than that.

Yeah I agree. I think UMass just tries to play as many G5 teams that are relatively close as they can. Some of the MAC teams fit that pretty well and seem to be willing to play Indies.

I read into it that it makes sense to schedule MAC schools for multiple reasons including recruiting. Returning to the MAC is probably not going to happen but you never know - anything is possible.

Do we know this?

"Our Arkansas State Red Wolves will host the UMASS Minutemen on November 12, 2022. The return visit to Amherst will be October 7, 2023. Weird seeing non-conference games scheduled late in the season."
"Jack didn’t have any envy in him," Calipari said. "He was the greatest coach to ever coach here."

Isn't that where Walt Bell was before he went to FSU? Not too too surprising to see them on the schedule.
