Chaney Rant

Post by TBird » Thu Oct 30, 2008 11:27 am

My apologies if this is posted elsewhere but I saw today that Chaney's threats made No. 2 on one list of worst coach rants. Great memory.

Is that DK intervening?

They need to put that up on the video board at the Mullins before the Temple game.

Yes, DK and Mike Williams were the two players joining Calipari at the podium during the press conference when it happened.

The good old days. I miss the edginess of that rivalry, especially after that incident.

I miss screaming at Chaney from my seats and having him stare back with "the look". The same one he has in the video.

i miss him too. we beat them one time during intercession and as they were leaving the court i was sort of "taunting" him and saying how we'll see them in philly. he looked at me with those giant eyes and shouted "YEAH. YOU WILL!!" pretty sure they beat us down there that year.

Nope. Just let Chaney fade into history. Everyone on this board knows how I feel about him. So this is as kind as I can possibly. Don't stoop to the level of glorifying that action. Just let the old man fade into history.

Yeah he was only 35, the same age Kellogg currently is. Let's hope DK has the same fire Cal had at 35!

And yet, Cal was in his sixth season as a head coach.

Keep that in mind if you think Kellogg is too young for the job.

Right Cal started very young.
Dickie I don't think I have hear anyone here or in press say they thought DK is too young for this job.

I saw Coach Chaney a few days ago getting his picture taken. He was smiling real big. I chatted with him for a few minutes and said to him, "Coach, you know there are a lot of people in Amherst that would pay a lot of money for a picture of you smiling like that." He answered, "Oh, I know they would!" We both had a good laugh about it.

Right. If there is to be any criticism of Kellogg, which I'm not expecting much of, it could be about a lack of experience, but I don't see the age as much of an issue.

True. I was just reacting to the fact that someone mentioned how young Cal looked in the video, which was taken four days after his 35th birthday. Kellogg also is 35 now.
