The message board is an opportunity to build a sense of community with like minded people (UMass fans) from all over the country. Everyon once in a while, someone deserves to get flamed, and it happens. But we have the chance to build a network that can be molded into a common voice to promote UMass and the A-10 (Linda Bruno ain't doing it, so it's us or no one on that job).
Mike runs a pretty neat shop here. He needs support (moral, immoral, and financial..., in no particular order). Sign Man has often spoken for the alums, and needs support. Where better for him to build it?
As a group, we functioned largely as individuals and helped McCaw back off his "Grey Wolves" idea. Now he is trying to resurrect a program that is circling the drain in Waco.
As a group, functioning as a group, I believe we can unite voices to get the Jack Leaman dedication of the court in the Bill a reality. The only thing stopping us is us.
Brian Long, may he do well in his campaign, could stump for such a change. Sign Man, with a little help from us, his friends, might exert some influence on the trustees. OBG, OC, and other with a long history of support to the University could become leaders and spokespersons for us, if we empower them.
We can make Jack Leaman Court a reality. Or, we could just let the chips fall where they will. I propose a moratorium on flaming the a**holes out there, and put our energies into the positive step of trying to impact policy. I know, the last 7 words of a dying organization are "we've never done it that way before." Let us refuse to let those damning words doom our chance at community and unity.
Fans of UMass, unite!
Fans of UMass, fight!
Fans of UMass, let's put down the beer glasses long enough to get this thing done right.

I said something that would inhibit your drinking for any significant amount of time? So sorry.Feato wrote:awww man, I was hoping to drink while doing this...
Jack Leaman's memory is worth one drink less a month.
And you, my friend, keep doing your work with informational and insightful posts!

I think most here are all for this. Who is in a position geographically and has the time to kind of organize what you propose. What is the actual game plan? I think you are right about making a lot of things a reality but it has to be done diplomatically. You've got my voice and if something was organized I'd have a beer less per month.
And still heavyweight champ..Umass basketball!
Gracias.
Rivals, and a couple of others, have tried to acquire my site into their portfolio. I've obviously refused. I can't stand the cookie cutter look and feel to their sites. Mine doesn't have a lot of great functionality, but it doesn't feel like it's rolled off a robotic assembly line.
Now's a perfect time to remind everyone that I accept donations. I pay for operating this site, hundreds of dollars per year, out of pocket. You can help out via PayPal

or send me a private message if you want to mail something.
Alternatively, if you're doing holiday shopping, and are going to buy thru Amazon.com, please go through my link to get there. I get a small referral credit for stuff you buy thru my link.

The clock is only off during daylight savings time, not during the winter months.

Since I was reminded today about the cost of this message board I am going to do my bit for the effort in advance of the holiday season. The new year is approaching have you rendered unto Mike yet? I'm sure he appreciates it as much as we appreciate his efforts running this board.
