The pressure continues to build and the team needs a convincing win to gain some momentum. A loss to a lower tier conference team will likely result in a loss of any type of post season bid and seal Lappas' fate. Wins over Lasalle, URI, and Dusquene are an absolute.Go UMass!!

Trying to think of why the Grand Old Party is tracking UMass Hoops so closely.

Is there a rough correlation between the demise of the UMass Hoops program and the election of GOP Governors?

Q- Who was Governor throughout the early/mid 90's?
A- Bill Weld. Party? GOP.

(Might be better to blame Dem. MA Governor Mike Dukakis for the dark days of the Gerlufsen regime...)

The Sports Network wrote:A win today would give the Minutemen their most victories in the conference since 2000-01, when they finished 11-5 in the league. It would also allow UMass to guarantee an above .500 regular-season record for the first time since 1999-00, when it went into the Atlantic 10 Tournament with a 15-14 record. The Minutemen are 9-0 this season in games in which they score at least 70 points, but the Explorers have proven tough defensively lately, holding each of their last three opponents under 70. If La Salle can hold Freeman in check and Smith continues to dominate offensively, the Explorers may pull out the unexpected win.

Predicted Outcome: La Salle 70, Massachusetts 66

The lines are putting us as 1 or 1½ point favorites.

Hopefully we don't get a "Lappas Letdown" today. I think this team comes out and plays hard and with the intensity of a team that is playing for A10 seeding and a post-season berth. We move the ball, hit the high % shots and bang the boards. Lets Go UMASS !!! :D
