A coach that has his head stuck so far up his ass is the real problem here, "longtime/firsttime". I'm curious, do you get to many games?

umAtudent, BC has a RPI of 28. Teams under 40 RPI 99.9% make the NCAA.
My point here is that Lappas is the King of excuses. We are young etc.
We are young because many of his recruits have either transfered, been dismissed or flopped.
The first year Wilson & Martin. Wilson transferred and Martin cannot even play on this squad. Next Cox Lasme (1) Kyoute Briggs. Cox, supposedly was injured and out for the year. My belief is that after 1 exhibition game he learned, or was told, that he would not be seeing much action and quit. Why has he not been seen during any of the games on the bench. Also, if there was a need for him down the road, he could have redshirted as Rogers did. Rogers tranfered from West Virginia, sat out a year, played 1 year for Bruiser, and then was a medical redshirt the first year for Lappas and played last year. The same scenerio for Cox, however he is not redshirting. While we could have had Pops Mensa Bonshu from GW, who wanted to come here, we took Kyoute - enough said. Lasme 1 transfered after one year and Briggs was thrown out after getting a second chance.
Any person with any objective outlook on the program, would say that the almost 3 years under Lappas have been very very dissapointing.
Other than Freeman ther has not been 1 new player that has shown anything close to consistency. I use BC as an example. They have 4 players starting that are either freshmen or sophomores, and they are far far ahead of where we are.

The Umass Hoops situation is just excellent. Just give him one more year and we will be legit. No doubt!

When Rogers tranferred from WVU, he went to a JUCO and didn't sit out a year. He then came to UMass after the one season and arrived for his 3rd season in his Junior year. Lappas redshirted him for his senior year and he came back and played his 4th season in his 5th year. Cox wouldn't have been able to play again without a special medical exemption from the NCAA.

This appears to be yet another season under Lappas where play, both team and individual, tails off dramatically at the end of the year. The program is now 13-28 in the A-10 under Lappas. UMass has lost as many league games in the 41 A-10 contests of the Lappas Era as it had in the 80 prior to his arrival.

There is absolutely no progress being made and this program has no future with Steve Lappas as coach. It would be irrepsonsible for the University and cruel to the players and fans to bring him back, regardless of the cost it takes to remove him.
