2024 NCAA Tournament Discussion

Post by InnervisionsUMASS » Wed Mar 20, 2024 7:22 am

As much as I hate the play-in games, the Madness started last night.

Wagner, with only 7 active players, barely beat Howard. What a hell of a game to watch.

The mighty Virginia out of the ACC got curb stomped by Edward Norton... sorry, Colorado State... Virginia scored 14 points in the 1st half... 14.

Power conference bias is BS. I've said it a hundred times ad I'll say it again, the difference between quality mid majors and mid-tier power conference programs is marginal at best. It's terrible that Virginia got in over a team like Indiana St, that had an excellent season but just missed out because they lost their conference tourney championship game.

Virginia has one of the more confounding tournament histories in recent memories. Lost to 16-seed UMBC as the first ever 1-seed to lose in the first round, followed that up with a national championship, then consecutive first round exits to 13 seeds, and then got trounced last night in the first four.

Go CSU Rams!!

Go Mountain West!!

Brackets - I have no idea why I never thought of this before, but I'm taking UConn. I haven't picked a national champion correctly in probably 30 years. So they're screwed if I pick them.

Agree on the Big East getting screwed. I might have Creighton, Marquette, and UConn in my F4.

Providence didn't help your argument, losing last night's home game to ACC's 11th place BC.

That will happen when you are down 2 starters, including their best player, Devin Carter.

Also it's the NIT, I don't put much stock into the winners or losers of those games.

In general, ACC Teams get a pass compared to other conferences. They used to play better, no more. The Selection Committee needs to quit putting 5+ ACC teams in NCAA Tournament. They play cakewalk games before conference play, padding a win-loss record that doesn't stand the test of time. UVA is one of the most overrated teams year after year.

Duquesne lost their first 5 games in the A10. Impressive turnaround.

It's all about getting hot in March. Unfortunately we haven't gotten hot in March in 25 years

Akron Zips got smoked pretty good. Creighton is a tough squad.

Happy for Dukes win . No surprise at all.Think they have been underestimated as has been A10. If Morehead State wins and beats Illinois we get them and Morehead winning. That would be exciting! Is anything better than March Madness?
