Could make for a nice rivalry

That’s pretty cool, I love the idea. Winning coach smashes losing coach through folding table bills mafia style?

MAC basketball team gets blown out and A-10 teams win 2 in first round.
Lets see how many wins the MAC gets in NIT, oh thats right there are no MAC teams in NIT !
Can't wait to see MAC basketball at the Mullins, maybe we should bring UNH back to the Mullins to help raise the level of basketball games. wait a minute maybe the MAC should invite both UNH and Maine to join the conference they would fit right in.

I wouldn’t go too crazy…yeah the A-10 got 4 teams into the NIT, but they went 1-3.

I did not know that New York and Massachusetts each have two governors and all four are female. Interesting factoid.

Yeah Eastern MA and Western MA are too different so we need separate Governors. Just like Upstate NY and the city area.

We have Maura Healey and Laura Beasley.

Stop whining dude. We should strive to become the dominating force of the MAC, much like Gonzaga who has completely dominated the WCC for the last 25 years. In this analogy, I am not comparing the WCC to the MAC as the WCC is one of the best mid major conferences right now, I'm merely speaking to the dominance within the conference.

There will be 4 leagues with teams from New England rated higher than us.
Big East 6
A-10 8
Ivy. 11
American East 15
MAC 23.

Teams like Vermont and UMass Lowell will be in tougher leagues
This was pointed out by Matt Vantour. This move makes no sense to me

If you don't get why this happened, then you don't get college athletics.

There are ebbs and flows but the A10 will always be better than the MAC. If you are just looking at basketball as Matty V, it does not make sense. If you look at the big picture, which football is a driver it makes sense. We are with peer public research institutions. There will always be some realignment. The Big East would never take us, but Dayton or VCU could find new homes in the future. We don't know, who team #14 will be, but some are guessing Western Kentucky. Adding UMass and WKU to the MAC makes it better. The added funds will help all UMass Athletics. To put it bluntly, say the A10 earns 4 NCAA credits a year or 12 Million for the 6 year period. If the money was split evenly, it would be 800k per team. The CFP per G5 team is 1.7M. The MAC contract was twice the amount of the A10 prime media contract. A10 was just renewed and the MAC will be renewed in the next few years. Cincy, UCF, Marshall were all in the MAC. Realize it may suck for basketball, until we win the MAC tourney and dancing. Think the last time we were in the A10 semis was with Lappas, many years ago. Hope we do it next year and dancing in our finally year of the A10. You probably will not ake solace knowing UMass is increasing, not decreasing basketball funds with the added MAC revenue. Anyhow, the MAC will not be this bad with us and team #14. There is both some really good basketball and bad basketball in the MAC. Cheers to the good teams.
Go UMass!!

that is this year. The MAC had by far, its worst year in its history, so you are probably jumping to wild conclusions.

How is joining a conference during its worst year ever a selling point?

Imagine being a salesman and telling potential clients, “yeah it’s a good product but in the last year we had our worst product ever. Are you interested?”

I was not jumping to any conclusions, just stating the facts. Ignore the facts if you wish.
